Aired from 1985, this classic sit-com is still as fresh as ever. Sure it is old, but those jokes were spewed left, right and centre. The jokes were different and not like any sit com so far. The lines were clear cut crisp. Full of wit and the humor so on point. Insults were hurled faster than a speeding bullet. The funny thing about their insults was that at first they can shock you before they choke you! Either way the nastiness will kill you. Remember this was 1985 and the topics they brought up must have been a first then. Condoms, sex were not your everyday sit-com stories. Golden Girls went to places that current sit-coms are trying to go to now!

The Set-up was simple. 4 elderly women in their prime living together. 3 were in their 50's and Sofia was in her 80's. 4 well developed characters, each uniquely developed, each a pivotal pillar to this comedy.

1. Dorothy.

No one knows sarcasm like Dorothy knows sarcasm. Wow! She unleashes it by the pound!!! No one was spared as she ridiculed with perfection. She was blunt and did not tolerate nonsense. Told it as it was!

Divorced after 38 years, to her a guy who impregnated her after a 3 second one night stand! Bitter and old is not a good mix!

Her manly voice and her height was also a source of constant humor.

2. Blanche

Sex and/in the city begun with Blanche! The man-hungry southern belle. The sex-starved slut! The floosie! The whore! (As defined by Sofia.) Once accused of being classified by the navy as a ''friendly port.'' She was the arrogant, promiscuous and gorgeous Blanche. Ever particular of her figure, once said her breasts were very perky...only to be corrected that they couldn't be perky even if she was dangling upside down on a trapeze!!!

Blanche had the best lines thrown at her. She once said she was as jumpy as a virgin in a prison rodeo....that's quite jumpy! Blanche was ever conscious about her weight, the excess buggage in her mid-rift, she didn't want to eat cake because 3 bites and her panties might cut off her circulation!!!! Clearly Blanche's character evoked the best lines aimed at her or coming from her!

3. Rose.

Dumber that two nails. Blonde and Naive. Her idiocy at times was outlandish and completely funny. Her St. Olaf stories of her country life made you wanna cry from laughter. Rose the same one who explained how it was difficult milking a cow while sitting on a stool. Not Rose, but the cow had to be seated on a stool!!! Same Rose, who killed her Husband, and a boyfriend after having sex.

4. Sofia

Having suffered a stroke her mind was uncensored. She spoke her mind and hurled insults like a pro! Ruthless,spiteful and very old. Sophia was a force to reckon with.

She adored Dorothy as she sweetly called her ''pussy cat.''

She was feisty. She was crude and raw! She was cut-throat. She hasn't had sex in 15 years and she gets cranky time to time...or so she says!

The four of them were fabulous actresses, each winning an Emmy for their roles, one of the few shows to have the entire cast winning an Emmy.

Sad to say, 3 out of the 4 of them have recently passed away. Only Betty White (Rose) is still alive,and so is her career. She is smoking hot right now on TV with a revived career starring in Hot in Cleveland, a show that is almost reminiscent of Golden Girls.

The show will always be a classic! A gem! When watching it you can't even tell the time difference cause you are too busy laughing.

They were hilarious, they were special, they were friends,the chemistry was perfect...indeed they were GOLDEN GIRLS!

Modern Family

The 'Tato has watched plenty of comedy. It's quite difficult to have a tv series that has the 'tato in stitches. Either it's the same old joke or the 'tato sees the joke a mile away! Ideally the tato, prefers jokes within a joke. The kind that are hidden in spoofs. You need to know the first joke to get the second so as to laugh at the third joke. Or a joke that sneaks up on you-like a deer caught at the headlights! Wham-instant laughter! Take 30 Rock or Family Guy-you have to be in the know to appreciate nor do you see the joke coming!

Tato has discovered a new gem. Modern Family. Simple ,white, family humor brought home! It's clean too! Your regular common sit-com affords you a simple smile or occasional show of teeth. Most sit-coms just have one joke the entire 20 minutes e.g. Everybody Hates Chris. With Modern Family you are guaranteed to burst out in laughter. It's cheap. It's in your face. It's damn funny!

Comprising of 3 'modern' families that are all related. They push all the regular TV stereotypes (actually all) to the limit and it works perfectly. Regular life situations (hence the sit in sit-com) are well portrayed and nothing is outlandish or unrealistic.

Family 1: Mom and Dad married for 15 years. A totally hot but blonde daughter, who is dating an even blonder boyfriend. Another geeky/nerdy brainy daughter. The last born- a weird, 'special,' and gullible son. The dad thinks he is uber cool trying to relate to his kids in what he calls ''peer-enting.''

The mum is an overprotective nutjob as well.

Family 2. An old, rich guy who has re-married your stereotypical 'trophy' wife way way younger than he is. She is spanish and has a spanish chubby kid who has his own funny issues.

Family 3: Two gay guys who have adopted a vietnamese child. Cameron is a hoot!

Cameron has the best one liners!

All the characters get enough airtime. Everyone is a star on this show. You don't feel like there are main actors and supporting actors. The kids in the show get so much air-time. It's a family show after all and it's delightful that the kids are not relegated to the background. In fact it's the kids you will love, almost the same way we did in Malcolm in the middle.

Same team that brought you Just Shoot Me. One of my favorite comedies of last decade.

Catch it! Watch it and before soon you will be re-watching it!!! The chemistry between all the characters is believable and hilarious!

This scene was the funniest ever... called the moon landing!!
LOL.

Manny (on the left) and Cameron (above) are my favorite characters! Both chubby with issues!

A review is a hard thing to do when you want to do a movie justice. This movie is a superb and grandiose display of outstanding audio and visual effects. It’s almost like a bragging rights exclusive to James Cameron daring other directors to bring it! The story line is not too complex with a few loopholes here and there, however, the concept itself is out of this world. Think of the mystery and the awesomeness that we obtained as we flew into Jurassic Park. Think of the raw graphic effects that King Kong had. Think of the primitive tribes, culture and world we adored in Apocalypto. Think of the imaginary prowess that George Lucas created in Star Wars. The cinematography is exquisitely real and one could dare to compare this epic enjoyable journey to that of Lord of the Rings and Troy. The creatures outdo themselves at no point do you feel ‘’blue-screen’’ like I did in 2012. Clearly James Cameron has written and directed a classic of Titanic proportions. But that has been his style-pushing the envelope and doing things GRAND! Clearly it’s the same person who tackled Aliens and Terminator, he has mastered the sci-fi genre with finesse and machismo.

Big Budget! Big C-G-I’s. Low-key cast except for Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi.

Watch it. Look out for the message of man destroying mother-earth for a quick buck. (Cue Michael Jackson’s Earth Song!)

It’s larger than life and is a must see! The sound and visuals are the most compelling thing about the movie.

Immerse yourself into this world! Lose yourself for the entire movie duration!

Dexter

I think what appeals to me about this show, is the fact that there is a little evil in everyone of us. Scratch that-I am Dexter. Never has there been a more loveable serial killer than Dexter. Not your average Casper the friendly ghost but an average joe with a secret! A very deep dark secret! He kills for fun. Again scratch that...he has a code. A code handed down to him by his father, who at an early age recognised that Dexter had so much evil in him it needed to be controlled, tamed...and channelled out in a proper manner. He rocks! Not to mention he is rolling with a Nokia N-96 like I am. He is unique, clearly deeply traumatised and tormented...but aren't we all? Two-faced and evil is the recipe that is DEXTER! A wolf in sheep's white, cute, cuddly,woolly clothing-trotting merrily as everyone around him is oblivious to what lies beneath!

Quick Summary: Dexter rights wrongs by killing guilty people who have crossed the line and escaped the long of the law. Collects their blood as trophies and stores them up in slides. He then chops up his victims and disposses them off in the ocean in smaller chunks wrapped up in plastic. Season 2 his victims were accientally discovered, and almost had him hunted down as the Bay Harbour Butcher. But he got away! He has his select instruments of carving/slashing to rid off his bodies. Not to forget his most important tool of trade-his hypodermic needle!

A blood-spatter analysts by day, a serial killer at night. Season 4 brings him his most challenging adversary-The Trinity Killer. Played deliciously by John Lithgow who executes his role brilliantly. Season 3 had Jimmy Smits who also guest starred with perfection. However, Season 4 is what TV addicts kill for. (pun intended.) Season 4 is the best in the series!

Michael C. Hall is absoultely fabulous! Emmy! Emmy! Emmy! His facial expressions are to die for! He mixes the right amount of cheek and sardonic grin and when he makes a kill it is obvious it is orgasmic to him as it is to the viewer. He was great in Six feet under and he is now. Note Oz alumni Sgt. Batista and Lt. Laguerta..yes Oz alumni are everywhere if you ask me!

Dexter is one of the greatest shows of our time. The show mixes gore and humor in a blend thais utterly edible and palatable. The choice curse words always appropriate and spot on! Wait till you see Grandfatherly Lithgow utter the words 'shut up, cunt!' In addition, foul-mouthed Dexters sister(and wife in real life), Debbie, is as filthy as a gutter! Her cursing is music to my ears!

At first, I felt the producers shouldn't have let Dexter get married. That wife of his bores the hell out of me, I'd put her out of her misery with a token of her blood as a reminder. But it has worked out well. Dexter needs his cover! His family is his shield. The more normal he acts the better he can get out out and kill somebody darn bad.

Season 4 has as much suspense as 24. Clearly, Dexter has met his much. The trinity killer is a trick old fella...who been around for 30 years-killing! Don't want to unleash spoilers here, get yourself season 4 and enjoy the ride.

Dexter Vs Trinity:
Was Dexter really learning from Trinity? Is Trinity better than Dexter? Will he track down dexter and kill him? So far at the end of episode 10, Trinity i shunting Dexter. Everyone has everything to lose and this time Dexter has met his match!

THIS IS IT

Oh, That was it. It's so sad to see what the fans who bought tickets actually missed out on. It's also sad to see those back-up dancers what the lost on out on.

Having watched it twice. I'm mesmerised that those were just mere rehearsals. Not even in dress rehearsal...your wake up in the morning practise routine. The interesting thing to note was that whilst the dancers were giving 100%, M.J was at 40% and he was that good! At 40% he was outdoing the best of the dancers. His moves were crisp. Voice had changed over the years but he sung live and danced in addition. He was dancing effortlessly, it was just a rehearsal and his game was at its best. Divinity in motion like his lyrics say. Clearly the shows were going to be out of this world/earth/galaxy! He was older, he'd weathered plenty of scandals...but the quality was still the same!

With his passing, a lot of reflecting has been done and many fans want to come out and clearly say which was their favorite song?album? dance? The movie challenges the fans to think which was their favorite. And most of his best hits were on This is it!

Smooth Criminal

My favorite choreography of MJ is Smooth Criminal. And in This is it they had a new video for it and some of the old dancing and I swurr smooth criminal is his best choregraphy ever! Well, albeit that MTV performance of 1995 where he did 'Dangerous' is damn near the best thing I've ever did see as well. M.J was a genius when he came to performing, entertaining and dancing! Annie are you ok? For real are you ok? There was a sign in the window that he struck you a crescendo...seriously who gets away with such a storyline and lyrics?

This lean!!!! The dance sequence is perfection as perfection gets!

Billie Jean.
Who can forget the attitude the day he performed for Motown's 25th Anniversary. White glove , white socks, short trousers and the introduction to the moonwalk. In 'This Is It 'he downplayed the rehearsal but I have a feeling the actual show would have have had an outstanding dance routine. In 1995 he outshone himself near outdid his original iconic performance.

Thriller.
His best video of all time in totality. Sure 'Smooth criminal' had moves that made you wanna do that forward lean...but as a whole Thriller is his best video. And I'd say R'emember the Time' is his second best video. In the documentary there was a 3-D remake of the video...nothing like grizzly ghouls from every tomb dancing in sync.

Jam.
Well performed. Oh how I loved the new jack swing from the Album 'Dangerous.' Even in this documentary it made me wanna get up since it aint too hard for me to jam. I wish there was more from that album performed.

Clearly the documentary is for the fans. It's not for the avid movie goer who appreciates documentaries. I'd have loved to see more behind the scenes with M.J outside his performances and rehearsals. Then again what I saw,I was satisfied with. I sung along and even wiggled in my seat to the moves and songs. I hee-hee'd and oooooo'd. A big an M.J fan as I am...This is it was exactly that-IT!

His back up dancers were so on point. Selectively hand-picked. Young, energetic and full of life...with the promise of a great career. Orianthi, the guitarist was kicking major electric ass on that guitar.

You have got to watch this masterpiece to see his playfulness in 'The way you make me feel.' or his emotion in 'Earth Song' or his vocal prowess in 'Human Nature' Beat it as well had some funk like the original. This movie is for the fans...and there were many fans. It's for the old fans, the die hard fans, and the new fans! M.J rocked and still does and forever will! The embodiement of greatness-a singer/song writer/producer/dancer. Not many stars right now can perform and entertain. Not many musicians are performers and entertainers. Some sing. Some dance. But they don't do both with perfection. He span decades with his songs and moves , and they will forever be timeless.

A celebration of everything that was Michael Jackson. Re-live your favourite songs.

Brothers and Sisters Review

This show is as wholesome as christmas pudding. It's about the chemistry behind family. The humor, the gossip, the secrets and everything dysfunctional that comprise of normalcy in any family.

Simple and straight to the point. Family dynamics as honest and accurate as it gets. Sometimes a little too monotonous with their family values...but this is tv after all!

One would argue that maybe these are stories that we have seen before. That it is a recycled version of great shows like ''Picket Fences,'' ''Sisters,'' ''Life Goes On,'' ''Six Feet Under'' and even ''7th Heaven.'' Well those were all shows that centered solely around family and hence the reason for any comparison. But the chemistry within this show in terms of characters and writing is wholesome. This is a feel good show. It tackles all aspects of life with an interesting twist. Yes you have seen infidelity over and over. There is now a cancer angle like we saw on Sisters. But if you have ever loved or liked the above shows then this you will automatically love.

The cast is powerful.
Oscar award winning (and now Emmy winning) Sally Field is the matriach of the family. Enter Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal), Rachel Griffiths (a superb actress from the superb Six Feet Under), Rob Lowe (West Wing), Ron Rifkin (Alias...boy he was a superb villain), Patricia Wettig (Prison Break V.P)... and numerous guest appearances

Coupled with good writing. This is your modern day family drama. Where you need to watch family drama and humor...this is your show! There is something warm about this show. It's a feel good show!

FLASH FORWARD REVIEW

I am HOOKED!
It's being called the ''LOST'' replacement. Well, I do not think they are alike except for the whole concept of ''by changing the present can you affect the future'' While for Lost it's ''by changing the past can you affect the future/present'' (I love you Lost!)

It's what Heroes was in the beginning. It's pleasant and simple with just enough to keep you coming back for more. We want to watch it grow and see how twisted it can get! By episode 5 things are getting more complex!

Setting?
On October 6th, The planet blacked out for two minutes and seventeen seconds.
And during that period, everyone caught a glimpse of the future 6 months into the future. Will the future come true? What caused this black out that made everyone fall asleep? A major highlight is when everyone is asleep we discover that indeed this is a man-made occurence! How? What? Who?...this is what makes the show! The fact that it is possible that back in 1991 the same thing had happened in Somalia.

Storytelling?
It's different. Each character battling with what they saw in the future gives an interesting twist to everyone! The story is simple enough and easy to understand. No need to start Flash Forward theories yet!

Cast?
A cast that is suitable and comfortable enough for the eyes. I like Joseph Fiennes, who I last liked in Shakespeare in Love as he was 'plucking' Gwenyth Paltrow's character. I've always liked Sonya Walger especially in Sleeper Cell and Lost. (personally at one point I could have swore she was Brooke from Bold and the Beautiful.) Dominic Monaghan so far appears to be a villain and I can't wait to see what he brings to this show. Numeorus cameos and cast members from TV favorites. It's definitely a TV cast for TV. A lot of 'recycled' TV actors who bring too much familiarity (though not breeding too much contempt.) This familiarity, then again it makes you ease onto the characters easier I think. Did anyone catch Seth Macfarlane (Mr Family Guy himself) in the season premiere?

Did you see her getting naughty in Tell me you love me-gives new meaning to full nudity?

Should you watch it?

Hell Yeah. I think it has plenty of potential. I think it can deliver where Heroes and Lost may have gone offboard. Those two were (and still are) excellent, the only problem was that they had infinite potential in terms of story and direction and sometimes when you are not grounded you will stray! By now we know that Heroes has gone off tangent even NASA can't salvage it. I think by having an already foretold future it gives the show a one-way direction. However, the viewers get to wonder if the future can actually be changed -which I doubt. The beauty of the show will be the unfolding of the future. When the flash-forward becomes reality or the present!

Everyone will be watching it and you should not be left out on this one!!

Confusion?
As with all time travel shows one can get lost in the two worlds of future and present. (Though the difference with this show is that its not a time travel show) How can the future be moulded in past/present? Or rather does knowing what the future bringeth contradict the past/present?

But the truth of the matter is that knowing the future has nothing to do with the future. Frankly, I doubt that will have an effect on anything. What will happen will happen and that's why it's the future. It cannot be the future if it can be altered. The future has /had been foretold already and it included this flash forward! So I do not see the confusion! Knowing the future is a present thing and as much as it will mould the future...it will mould it in such a way that whatever was to happen will happen bearing the fact in mind that we know what the future is!

I think the deeper mystery is how on earth does someone make everyone fall asleep?
What is the end game? (Alias)
What is the catch?
The conspiracy theory?
President has plenty of mud on him...I want the in-depth on that!
So much we don't know about the characters pasts and there future!

Is it like Lost?
I feel it will have more direction than Lost did. But apart from the whole past vs future there is no similarity to Lost. Yeah Yeah there was an Oceanic Airliner somewhere. Yeah there are two cast members from Lost. But NO! It's its own show! Sure each character has their own flash-forward they same way each character in Lost had their own flash-back...see why there is so much comparison? But NO this is FLASH FORWARD!(As corny as that may seem)

Tato Verdict:
Great show! Will be around for a while!
It's different and simple.
It's not brilliant but it delivers greatly!
It's something one gets hooked on and has not disappointed so far!

DANCE FLiCK

The Tato has always has a soft spot for spoof comedies. They are the kryptonite to my funny bones! I have always and will always have a weakness. There is nothing as glorifying and gratifying as appreciating where a joke has come from. Having watched a classic film and then watch it made a mockery out of.

Sure the storyline is lame...in fact its just a string to hold random jokes from here and there. But the means justifies the end.

So here is DANCE FLiCK. Think of all those classic and not-so-classic dance movies and you have DANCE FLICK.

Is it funny! Oh yes it is. If you enjoy your Leslie Nielsen/Charlie Sheen/Wayans kind of spoofs then this right here is going to be your cuppa tea with some English muffins at high noon!

The storyline loosely is scipted after 'Save the last dance' and bits of 'Hairspray,' 'Flame,' 'Honey,' 'Step Up,' 'Fame,'...of course the one of the funniest bits for me was the Jennifer Hudson spoof of 'Dreamgirls.' This was the funniest...''...and I am telling you...My tummy's growling''

Kim Wayans in her small cameo role had me laughing cracked up in two...''...these kids don't know how to get LOW!!!'' Marlon Wayan as a psycho loser acting class teacher is hilarious. If only we saw more of Marlon and Shawn. Big brother Keenan was also there.

Damon Wayans Jnr wiggling in his leotard is laugh out loud as you clearly thought it was HER! Priceless!

Some might call the movie a piece of crap. Ametuerish! A waste of celluloid. A sore sight for eyes and ears. But you just don't understand this genre. It's like BRUNO. You have to see the humor. The mediocrity of 'Black Films' is captured quite well with the whole 'Baby Mama and Baby Daddy' theme. It the little things that have gone unsaid that make it all whole lot funny!

WATCH IT!

Oh and the infamous Camel Toe of Ms Cameltoe...with her beat-boxing with her other cleavage! Thats just nasty! Them prominent lips just stand out begging for attention. Seriously how funny is that!?

TUSKER PROJECT FAME 3

I attended last nights performance in that big TENT! Talk about camera tricks...you'd think the judges and the faculty sit way way apart but in fact Hermes is a hip away from Kavutha and many a hips away from Achieng Abura. The infamous Ian puts on make-up! HA! Oh and Sheila looked bad! I mean terrible! I thought she had too much powder till my pal corrected me told me she had too much foundation. I'm talking of foundation that's been plastered on by a bricklayer or a mason...literally smacked onto her! However, I was impressed that she doesn't read from a monitor. So kudos to her...them lines are memorised and memorised well!

Dr. Mitch had an interesting rap at the beginning of show that was not aired...but there is absolutely no love lost or shared for that matter between him and Sheila. Their chemistry is off and he tries too hard to be funny!

This inside scoop is more of a review than a behind the scene reveal.

1. We saw the departure of Nina Bola the previous night. Obviously the judgement was flawed last Sunday! She did not deserve to have left THIS saturday. But after she did her Motown song that she was to perform yesterday had she stayed...er...yeah... you were so going to leave ANYWAY!

2. Ng'ang'a a.k.a Ng'ang'alito! Funny enough I clapped for him. I think he has tried coming this far. Granted, he won't win! But this dude from the village has reached where others have failed to reach. He may sing terribly with a deep Kikuyu accent, he may even be nicknamed the 'Akorino' King but he won't go far-not in this show and not after the show. Not to mention the fact that he sung an African song with a 'Mugiithi' accent!

Again, he has come far but its far enough, the journey is over its time to alight the bus. He is mildly funny, flimsily entertaining , his vibrato and falsetto is as consistent as him maintaining his kikuyu accent!

3. Patricia and Debarl were outstanding and great! Frankly, I think Patricia will and should win. My question is where on earth do you get a name like Debarl from?

4. Maureen and Leah were also damn good!

5. Alpha: he had been having problems all through the week with his song. We knew he was going on probation and he knew it too. You just don't do a love ballad like you are belting out an war anthem at a football stadium. He was practically yelling out a love song ... beating the love into that poor girl...and for that, it really showed a new side to him that he wasn't such a great singer after all!

6. Christian: the ladies love him and I think he will be saved if not by the voters then the school. Frankly I think his ''it doesn't matter'' retort was not out of being rude but for his being poor in the English language. So he will stay on...but like Alpha we are beginning to appreciate his weakness is not just English but vocally he is not up to par!
Both are good guys but good don't cut it!

7. Caroline...I have hated her attitude and whatever it is she does with those eyes of hers! She keeps batting her eyelashes and pouting ...and no it don't work!

8. Illluminata...always looking hot. Woe unto you when you do a Michael Jackson song also covered by Mariah. As she was accurately told by the Stunning Juliana there are songs you just don't do if you do not have the voice. Who would dare sing ''I'll be there'' in the same key?! Cause what was not there was her ability to hit those high notes and maintaing the right key.

She was more entertaining when she fell on stage!

9. The judges. At least this time they were sensible.

All in all it was not too bad a show. Quite entertaining if you ignore the flaws that the show has always had in its pick of final contestants. The judging has always been substandard, but atleast this time Juliana and Hermes (unlike the last two judges from TPF! 1&2 )have more constructive criticism. You get the impression they know what they are talking about. But shame on you three for not putting Ng'ang'a on probation last week. I like the knew additions of Kavutha and Hellon. It's probably the best TPF so far!

My money is on Patricia.

This week am seeing Caroline leaving the show! Though I am not too sure if only one contestant is leaving.

Grey's Anatomy Vs. House M.D

Should one really compare the two? Would it be an injustice, considering that the only thing they have in common is that they are medical dramas? Obviously they are not alike and do not add Scrubs into this equation.

Back in 1994, yes that far back, we were introduced to E.R and Chicago Hope... if I remember well both debuted at the same time. It was clear one was superior but the other was just as entertaining and managed to stand its own ground. We can say E.R overshadowed Chicago Hope, but the latter was a fine masterpiece that would have held its own hadn't it been for E.R and the compare and contrast game.

So a decade later, then comes the Grey's Anatomy and House M.D. Just when medical drama were too cliche...when everyone was running away from medical and legal drama's...producers came up with something new and different.

Personally, I prefer Grey's...but it's not that House M.D isn't damn good. Sometime I prefer the show I'm watching...but season 5 has ascertained where my loyalties lie.

But what people should realise the two are completely different offering separate dishes in the same buffet.

COMPARISONS and CONTRASTS

1. Medicine vs Surgery
House M.D is about the medical mysteries as opposed to surgical mysteries.

2. Ends vs Means
House is about the step by step deductions in solving the mysteries...like C.S.I...they go through differential diagnosis until a bulb lights up and voila mystery solved. And in that case it gets a little monotonous as they go thorough the medical sieve each time, from infections, to autoimmune to cancer... sarcoidosis (it always gets mentioned...)

Grey's is about doing the inevitable to to solve the mystery...they are interested in the end and not the means. Sometimes the mystery is somethin outlandishly bizzare.

3. Branches of specialities
Whilst Grey's only has surgical specialities, House is more well-rounded with all specialities both medical and surgical on board.

4. Characters.
Grey's has more emphasis on the characters than House M.D and I think thats why I enjoy Grey's more. From the additons of Sloane, Addison. Han, Torres...and even the new interns...their development of characters old and new is fascinating and entertaining.

House on the other hand for almost 2 seasons did not develop any character. Such that it did not matter the order in which you watched the season's nothing was missed since emphasis was on the cases. However, later on they realised their folly and characters started being developed. I particularly enjoyed the Sela Ward story line. Even when House was being bullied by the cop brilliantly played by David Morse..and in season 4 they brought in a new cast of doctors to try out for jobs after House fired his entire staff. In fact this season was the best ever!

No one would care if Wilson left the show...it didn't even matter in season 4 when the main characters became temporarily recurring. Which shows that we feel nothing for the other charcaters apart from House...then again that's why the show is aptly called House M.D.

In Grey's new characters are added all the time and they blend in with the viewers. Each character has their own story line intertwined with the main story line for the episode.

5. Romance
-Season 5 has seen both shows have regular lesbian characters. Clearly a ratinngs thing, that ended badly in Grey's when Han was unceremoniously fired. Torres is still pursuing her orientation discovery whilst House has a character that may be a serial lesbian hell-bound on destroying her life.
-Cuddy and House...I was scared to see what would happen if that story was pursued luckily the writers knew best to just dangle that carrot but not pursue it further.
-Grey's: everyone is sleeping with everyone which makes it too soapy for a medical drama and hence the seriousness can be lost on it. However, their love lives are interesting from George contracting syphillis..to Sloane breaking his bone in the on-call room. Yeah, Grey and Shephard and Addison feels like a scene from Days of our lives...but Yang gets interesting love story arcs...like her and Burke and now the guy from Rome. YES, HBO return ROME please!

6. Cliffhangers.
Grey's has had better and more clifhangers than House.

7. Adroable Characters.
Apart from House himself who is certifiably an S.O.B...there is no other endearing character in House M.D. We love him, we hate him, we love to hate him.
However in Grey's the list is endless
-The Nazi is sarcastically hot!
-Yang is an absolute gem. Ms Smarty pants and smarty mouth.
-Addison...loved her
-George-his quirkiness was outstanding..though he is no longer being featured much in season 5
-Torres: grew on me like a nail...I think she is the character that has evolved the most in this show
-Sloane:who could hate him?
-Izzy...that girl has problems...and looks like she could be dying... (How's that for complaining that you were not being written for emmy award winning material...see if that's Emmy for you when you have been written out of the show!) Season 5 had a return of her old flame as a hallucination which could be a sign of something else...
-Burke was a legend with an ego?
-new interns...funnily they are entertaining providing comic relief within comic relief
-The chief too is entertaining.
-Even Meredith has her days and the jury is still out on whether her voice is better in the dialogues or that chick from Desperate housewives.

8. Guest Stars.
A show is as good as it's guest stars. And each mainatins to attract a bevy of celebrities but clearly Grey's has had a better run with celebrities.

9. Stories with substance.
House has deeper stories within its genre. As a medic you would be more amazed and surprised with House. But Grey's gives you an inside on the behind the scene of interns and residents. House is more serious, but Grey's shows you the other side behind the serious curtain.

So there is a non-biased review of the two. Great shows. Great actors. Great Drama.

SCYLLA and Prison Break Season 4

At episode 15, everything seems to have been turned around.
"Not everything is as it seems"

So it appears that Michael had a convenient revelation during his neurosurgery( done under very non-sterile grounds. Hmm Dr. Tencredi should know better than just walking into a theatre in thug-clothes.)... And maybe after all Scylla is a good thing?

Should we fall for the fact that the COMPANY is a good thing? All the evil and murder...

And what was that drug "series" that has been injected into Michael...has he been brainwashed?
And if that procedure was carried out on his mum is she alive?
and what the hell is TOMBSTONE that has Burrows acting as the General's BITCH?!

This season has been excellent, I will admit. SPOILERS:
-It's sad that Bellick got killed. Irony was he sacrificed his life after he was such an ass!
-The comp geek died
-and so did the BLACK bad guy is also dead

Season 4 has been back to back...though at episode 15 we can tell the story is changing. Sucre has called it quits. Alex is on the run again. Lincoln is working for the Company. And Michael recovering from his surgery has a new theory on SCYLLA!

I've really liked Gretchen! She so kicks ass.

T-Bag a.k.a Cole Pfeiffer has not disappointed so far!

Quantum of Solace

Reason I don't like doing Bond reviews is that I was a Pierce Brosnan fan-die hard...though I still cannot decide Connery, Moore or Brosnan. However, my tato self and thousand of celluloid hours only remembers Brosnan more and this Craig seems to be messing everything up for me.

Surprisingly I had given Casino Royale a fair review way back then...and since my fans (all two of you) have asked here is this review.

1. First of all I repeat, I get the whole Backstreet "lets go back...way back!" I get the whole this is Bond before Bond. Before the gadgets...before the women...I get the whole Eric Benet "love don't love me"-hell-bent on being a ruthless brut. I get it all. But I strictly don't see these as the roots Bond, James Bond.

This isn't Spiderman revealed slow...where we slowly get to see Spiderman evolve. No, this ain't Smallville where we deliciously watch Lex Luthor evolve. This is more of a revolution, devolution whatever is the opposite of evolution that would have Charles Darwin reconsider his theories.

2. Evolution?
However assuming there is more to come..if evolution is what we are seeing N.B with an even older M ( Love you Ms Judi Dench...) I still don't envision where all of this is leading too.
-How the hell does a sequel...a direct sequel not contribute anything to this concept?
-Instead of understanding this Bond more...I hate him more....
Where does this all lead to? In Star Wars prequels we longed for when good turns evil with the birth of Darth Vader!
This Bond has been rebranded...I refuse to believe this is Evolution.

3. So what does the Tato have against this brut?
-he makes Ethan in Mission Impossible look like a better Bond.
-he reminds me of Jeniffer Garner in Elektra and Ben Affleck in DareDevil and those are not movies you want to remember
-he has the making of Jack Bauer and we all know there is only one Bauer (look out for season 7 btw!)
-simply put he is not the BOND I want. Not the one I grew up watching.

4. Hyper-editing.
Yup I got that from a review I read and I agreed. I love me some fast action with senseless speeds. Shield always delivered those hand held camera chase scenes. I learned to appreciate such confusion...it was worth living for. But that first scene was just too much. I didn't even see the car/s. Casino Royalle had a really great first chase scene and I don't see why they felt they had to feel challenged to rival that...when they could have done better in other scenes.

5. Sequel
Why didn't anyone tell me this was a direct sequel? A bond sequel? Are you for real...is that the reason it sucked? Maybe if it wasn't a sequel it would have been a whole lot better?

6. Bond Theme?
I didn't even like this song...at all! Evidently even last time I was screaming "bloody murder"
about that same point. Shame on you Alicia Keys and the other person you sung it with!

7. Bond Gadgets?
Yeah what about them? How would I review them when I didn't see any!

8. Bond Girls?
Yeah...as we are being told this was Bond before Bond. So yeah forget the Bikini's...forget the lusciousness...Evolution...Not this Bond.
And that Love making scene...for a Bond hurt by love he sure is doing fine. (and no that is not the point...that's not how he became BOND!)
Again where is Money Penny?

9. So...

We are expected to digest this unpalatable dish. Embrace a new cooking style...a new plate...a new spoon for eating spaghetti...a different chef...a new dish served shaken AND stirred.

10. Bond Quotes.
Yes...no more Bond, James Bond no more Shaken not Stirred...

RATING: 5/10...cause of the time I spent but it's I who should get a lesser rating for watching it in the first place.

At the end of the day:
Lousy action
Lousy story---blah blah blah running renegade...bluh bluh is that Bauer...bluh bluh bluh revenge and breaking all the rules.
No element of surprise and cheap thrills...

MMMM cop shows never got this brutal and raw!

I've reviewed this show before and I am here to usher in the 7th season which might also be last season. Vic Mackey is at his A-game full of lies, deceit, underhanded scrupulous evil and blackmail. He knows how to survive and how to use people-the end justifies the means. A corrupt path to Justice.

His collaborations with his enemies raises quite a few eyebrows like with Councillor-man and former captain Aceveda...what will these two gain from this mutually exclusive almost parasitic relationship?
And now Shane? Sworn to destroy his former friend Shane for killing Lem...he has had to put his pride down and start working together albeit cautiously.

I had read somewhere that this is the last season and I am watching each gem like it were the last.

This show was well created. Vic Mackey is one of TV's S.O.B's and we love him for that.

Entourage Season 5 ep 1&2

This is one of those H.B.O shows that had no promise...or rather did not seem to have any promise yet blew audiences away. Based on a fictional actor Vince Chase and his entourage comprised of his best friend Eric, his brother-has-been- actor Johnny, other best pal Turtle...and best of all their agent Ari Gold. Revolves around this friendship and the Hollywood celebrity lifestyle that comes with living in the spotlight of fame and fortune.
(Losely based on the real life story of Mark Wahlberg and his entourage)

It is such an easy to watch show. Laughter, sex, and builds up extremely well for such a short -length show.

Season 5 picks up smack from the movie premiere of "Medellin" (pronounced Meddy-ian.) Specialising on Independent movies Vince made the much anticipated movie of the year "Medellin" and surprisingly it bombed. Poor reviews on acting and directing.

Vince is desperate for an acting gig and needs to bounce back.
Eric is busy running his "Murphy Group" with a client base of 2.
Johnny is in a long distance relationship and struggling with his hit TV show.
Turtle..well is still Turtle struggling between the ocassional lay and beating his meat.

Episodes are roughly 25 minutes long.
It's not a sit-com its not a drama.
It's a master piece.
Catch season 1-4 and enjoy this ride
Great casting,great writing.
Great cameos from real celebrities.

TAGLINE: Let's hug it out, bitch.

My favorite character is Ari Gold preciously played by Jeremy Piven:
overconfident, selfish and self centred...
he is loud and arrogant...

Prison Break Season IV: Ep 1-2

Undoubtedly the TV seasons are back!! ...and what a way to begin new seasons than with Prison Break.

It's off to a quick start..as usual a few explanations are sorted out in the premiere episode and we get off running ...actually more like a 100m dash. No time to waste (evidently the writers are no longer on strike)
The pace is set. And from the get-go we know that this season involves trying to take down THE COMPANY as opposed to breaking out from a Prison. The plot revolves( so far) obtaining a card(s) that has info on THE COMPANY. The card(s) is/are called "scylla"

Episode 2 is so intense for a moment I thought I was watching 24.

This season has the suspense of season 1 and 3 rolled up together to make a powerful season 4 that's to be reckoned with.

So far:
-Sarah Tancredi is back ...clearly she is no longer pregnant hence she has been written back into the main story line. Well she returns the love-story line between her and Michael...I preferred her dead I think she is dead weight...and we don't need a love-story when dealing with action.

-Michael Rappaport (last seen in Boston Public and Dating Phoebe in Friends) appears as a detctive blackmailing Scoffied and Burrows to cooperate in taking down the COMPANY...and the old crew is recruited as well.

-Whistler...has been killed and so far the viscious vilanious vixen from last season has been "shot dead"...till she re=appears in episode 2.

-The Bros are working together with Mahone, Bellick and Sucre. I still love Bellick but right now he has been reduced to a bumbling fool... I liked him back then when he was raw and unrefined. A desperate dictator turned into a chubby, pathetic, helpless being running for his mama...with his breasts dancing up and down.

-A few extra characters have been added ...the new guy-Cress Williams (he who was dating Khadija in Living Single) is probably the new Villain like Mahone was or the other bad guy who turned good...what was his name again Paul Kellerman?

Precious Moment:
T-Bag stole the show with his cannibalism moment. Munching on his sumptuous chubby pal to save himself from death via starvation...enjoying himself a piece of roast in the desert sun across the border.

Stranger: Did you have some bad mexican?
Tea-Bag: (retching) yeah ...something like that!

T-Bag still contains the key that will enable the Bros to unlock the mystery within the "Scyllar" once the obtain all 6 cards.

Definitily a must-watch!

My My ...this show falls together with Friends, Family Guy, Malcolm in the Middle, Golden Girls as one of my best Comedies of all time.
Especially season 1. Thou that has no sense of humor would hate this show. But the double entendres, the jokes within jokes ...this is well written and hilarious. Real life jokes. Celebrity jokes...name it it's here.

Funniest SITCOM around!!!!! An Emmy award winning show...with numerous awards for both Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, writing and as a comedy series.

Based on the writing team and acting team behind a fictional live show.

Surprisingly Tina Fey was a head writer for Saturday Night Live so its like a situational comedy about the real goings on behind such a live show.

ALEC BALDWIN: Now his character of Jack Donaghy is the funniest ever. If Alec Baldwin died today that would be his best role ever! BEST ROLE EVER. and may he win an Emmy for that.
Oh and he has been dating high profile players like Condoleeza Rice...Jack.

Jenna Maroney...just when you thought the stereotype of a blonde slut had been overplayed...here comes a new millennium slut. Damn ...a point she started adding weight and advertised a perfume for plus-size women Enorme! Damn where do they get this jokes from?
Plus her dead-beat acting career doing musical like "con air." My God, and her defunct movie debut in Grisham's brother's movie "The rural juror"

Funniest thing on earth. Reeks of an NBC production!

Oh and in season 1 there was this lady who recurred but as different roles...you have to watch to understand.

The casting and writng is genius. And the guest cameos are brilliant. From Jerry Seinfeld, Al Gore, David Scwhimmer...list is endless as it is priceless.

Boston Legal.

David E. Kelly has penned some of the best TV programmes in my Tato Life. From Chicago Hope, L.A Law, Boston Public, Ally McBeal, Picket Fences, The Practice... and now comes Boston Legal.

Many had told me to watch Boston Legal and frankly I was skeptical about starting up another Legal Drama. Tato darn watched plenty of Legal dramas.

But Boston Legal is different. Its humorous. Granted that majority of the legal cases are near always won in favor of the cast. Its different and entertaining.

William Shatner as Denny Crane: a self centred, self absorbed lawyer who is a has-been in the legal fraternity and is slowly losing his mind. Basically he is a nut! Has his moments of brilliance that are shadowed by his moronic moments.

James Spader as Alan Shore: A self-centered, over-confident, arrogant lawyer who knows he is great and makes no apologies for it. The perfect bastard!

Candice Bergen as Shirley Schmidt: Cold, direct and no-nonsense. After all she is SCHMIDT! It's good seeing her after such a long time away from Murphy Brown.

Very reminiscent of Ally McBeal in its legal cases and even jokes at times outlandish. The friendship between Alan and Denny reminds me of Frasier.

The show has great one-liners.
It's funny. Light heated and rarely preachy.
It's a must see...takes getting used to but after getting used to the characters, you're hooked.

NB:
A lot of recycled actors from previous Kelly shows.

And the main actors also do get written off...remember when the entire cast of Chicago Hope was fired.

Betty White plays such an adorable character in Season 2...watch out for her.

Breaking Bad

Yeah the Tato has a few gems that he has got himself addicted to.

Of which one is "Breaking Bad" starring none other than Bryan Cranston. A great actor previously on "Malcolm in the Middle."

Currently nominated for an Emmy 2008 for this role. He is a fine actor and I hope he wins for this.

A high school Chemistry Teacher with a part time job at a car wash.
A new baby on the way.
Struggling financially, professionally and unfortunately now medically.
Diagnosed with Stage 3A Lung cancer his life he has to make ends meet to pay his bills and hopefully leave his family with some cash once he dies.

With his Chemistry skills he teams up with a former student of his to make Crystal-Meth. His cooking skills (reffered to as Artistic Skills) produces high quality 99.1% pure Methamphetamine...

An odd duo. A punk drop out kid and a geeky chemistry teacher teaming up to cook Meth. Cooking Meth in an R.V or in the basement all to meet supply.

There is demand...but it's such a dirty market.

The first Season has 7 episodes. Totally enthralling. Feels like HBO yet its not!

Starting off with the murder of two local distributors of Meth and the way the two dispose off the bodies is chillingly cold!

A must watch!

Classic moments:
When he quits his job and tells his employer "Fuck you and your eyebrows!"

Trying to dissolve a human body with Hydrofluroic Acid-Classic.

TAHIDI HIGH

If there was a local Kenyan show to be addicted to this would be it. It's the best we have. Over the years local productions have always been stereotyped and stereocast but this programme has always remained fresh and surprisingly entertaining.

The cast has a fantastic dialogue. I have always insisted the key to a programme is the screenplay followed by the storyline. Rarely do you have ten minute pauses within each sentence uttered or cheap incidental music to occupy time and dialogue. There is a smooth flow in acting unlike other local programmes where you can tell one is waiting to deliver the next line. We need spontanous flow...perhaps its bad directing as opposed to bad writing...but we never care since we shall always dismiss it as "typical of Kenyan progs."

I watched "Mother in Law" that premiered this Sunday and I do not see this show lasting very long. Again we have familiar faces that have been recycled into this new show. Cheap dialogue and their flow between english and swahili was not smooth leave alone natural. Why would someone cast an actor from "Better Days" and not want to hire fresh faces? So if "Better days" returns what happens?

I'm I the only that sees the folly in recycling?

Citizen has made an effort to promote and produce local shows...but none stands in comparison to Tahidi High. Besides the writing, I think the cast does an amazing job. The likes of "Omosh" to the bad boys "OJ" and "Freddie" ..."Principal Morgan"..."Joni"...though some are recycled products of French Cultural Centre- they are nonetheless not common on T.V and play their roles very well.

Kudos to Tahidi High and the entire team. It is fresh and funny. Oozes originality and plenty of potential. Only loophole is this is a High School Drama and time factor is usually the worst thing to happen to a show running on an actual time line. So what happens to the star-characters of the show when they finish High School?

Two Gems

Yes in this time of "plenty of time at home" one needs a movie or two. An 11 o'clock movie and a late afternoon movie. Two good gems that need not take you to the theatre... cell phones switched off, curtains drawn...stewing in your own filth whilst gobbling junk food.

A movie gem a.k.a a "K.B.C movie" is a movie that you have no faith in,or knew very little about but somehow there you are having started it...caught up in it... and ends up entertaining you nonetheless.

BUCKET LIST

It's a sweet feel-good movie. One of the reasons to watch it is just the sheer fact that Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson share a screen together.

Story is rather slow...two cancer patients total strangers become best of friends in their last days on earth. They compile a shared "bucket list." Which by definition is a list of things to do before you kick the bucket. And the movie chronicles their friendship and journeys through that bucket list.

This is your breakfast movie...so if riots/mass action/civil disobedience or phase 1 of seeking justice has kept you home away from work. Having finished reading same old news of what people think is the way forward...don't mediate or refuse to negotiate with this movie...move on and watch this flick. Its not the greatest but its sure nice way to pass time.

Currently #1 in the U.S box office.

Jack Nicholson plays your regular sonofa.... quite well as he always does.But nothing beats him in A Few Good Men. Morgan Freeman the gentle friend alost reminiscent of Shawshank Redemption.

A lot of noise has gone on about the Oprah Winfrey produced and Denzel directed movie.
It's good stuff...preferably your afternoon movie. Great acting from Denzel and Forrest Whitaker- damn y'all for not recognising his good work on The Shield

I think the younger cast was more inspiring. Its based in 1935 on a true story. About a team of College debaters...at the end the interesting and quite apt topic of debate is " is civil disobedience a moral right?"

Nice to see Jurnee Smollet all grown up and looking fly.
As much as it was nominated best pic for golden globes...nuh...its a very good movie but not the greatest.

COBRA SQUAD

It's been a while since I last did a review. Too tired and busy to blog. However yesterday, there I was too lazy to move to get my remote. I painfully subjected myself to the local drama that is COBRA SQUAD. Written, produced and directed by Alfred Mutua- a fellow couch tato, as he claims. Actually I've seen him plenty of times at the Junction catching a movie. So one couch tato to the other, this critique will be of utmost respect and cut to the point.

I have hated local drama since way back, simply for many reasons:
- bad acting
- bad casting
- bad dialogue-thats the screenplay
- bad storyline
- limited budgets

Now, Cobra Squad looks like it has a massive budget with numerous sponsors. They have managed to shoot in excellent locations. Which is about the only good thing this show has.

1. Writing!! Writing!! Writing!!

Any real Tato knows that the secret to a good show is the writing. Writing writing writing. Writing has two components story and screenplay.Plot and words.

-What people dont realise that for good writing you need more than one writer. You may have one head writer, but a successful show has tens of writers. Too many cooks are needed for this kind of broth. As much as Alfred is trying I think he needs to recruit a whole army of writers to salvage this show.

-dialogue is so poor. Why do people not write as normal as they talk. Whats the difference between real life and tv? Theatrical talk should be eliminated. One word or one sentence lines should be removed. I don't know how to put it but...when writing you should actually verbalise your writing to see if it even makes sense. People don't talk in sentences. Many people interrupt...keep talking...stammer...speak incoherently...mumble...mix and match that dialogue.

an example of common talk on Kenyan TV

"Goodmorning Mr Tato?"
"Goodmorning Sir."
"How are you doing?"
"I am doing fine."
"That is good to hear."
"How are you doing"
"I am also doing fine"
"Good."

-story line. It is adviseable to have many running storylines at a go. Not one basic storyline that drags on incessantly. Characters should have a past present and a future. So should the multiple storylines.

2. Advertising.

Shameless and blatant advertising is present on this show. Surely is it a drama feature or a running advertisement. Just because a certain product sponsors the show its endorsement should in no way interfere or be inclusive of the plot or dialogue. I think merely being in an LG shop itself is mere marketting but for a salesman to actually unleash the advantages of an LG fridge or TV is outright uncouth.

3. Editing.

This is supposed to be a fast paced drama. So why do we still have useless footage like a 2 minute chase scene that has no baring on the plot whatsoever. Priorities have not been determined obviously as a result of poor writing. Poor wriing ends up with poor editing.

4. Casting and Acting

I won't criticise acting...because of the bad writing. Good writing sells itself you dont even need good actors when you have great writing. Heck writing creates the actors. So we have a case of bad writing reflecting out as bad acting.

But casting. I am tired of seeing the same faces on Kenyan TV. Especially those who do TV commercials.

Take a fresh cast and make celebrities out of them. Take a fresh cast and make a unique brand from your product.

5. Action Sequences

-Fight scenes: my God the obvious choreography in this scenes is almost embarrasing. If one cannot have right camera angles or editing skills or computer no-how I suggest omitting such scenes entirely. TV is fiction as it is...we need not be reminded of this fact. There is a fine line between ridiculous and lack of technology.

Gunshot scenes are laugh out loud horrendous.

In a nutshell COBRA SQUAD ends up being bad/crap simply as a result of bad writing.

So one day this Couch Tato will create his own TV show and will show you what makes a good drama-supersaturation of good writing with an unknown cast
.
Shows like West Wing. OZ that had an unknown cast. Sopranos. Friends made it big simply cause of good writing. Sisters...E.R... all these shows started with unknown actors.

Until Kenyan TV producers realise this, Kenyan shows will always be substandard, an viewers will be dissatisfied left wanting.

A show that actually comes close is Tahidi High. Watch an episode and see the difference. It's probably the best thing we have so far...but it too needs oxygen but not a complete rescusitation in the I.C.U.

The Shield VI

This is one of the best Cop Dramas of our time. Over and over again I've debated over which is better- The Wire or Shield. Season 2 and 4 of The Wire were a little slow and off the tangent we are used to. The latest season 4 was slow and dealt with school kids-so for now Shield temporarily takes the lead.

Season 5 had the worst cliff hanger ever. Worst in terms of DAMN GOOD! Killing Lem was sweeeeet Drama..and Shane was just the character for it. And the brutality of it all..dropping a greenade on your pals lap...such nerve...such violence.

Season 6 picked right up from there. And it was pure intense drama when Vic found out that Shane did it. Another fine moment was Cavanaugh losing to Vic. Even after he had been reduced to framing him. I still believe he was robbed off an Emmy for that role.

Cavanaugh has been out to get Vic. Sure Vic ain't innocent he is as rogue and corrupt as it gets. But we like Vic. When Vic slept with Cavanaugh's Ex and said her "pussy tasted like sweet sweet butter!" That's our Vic. Who writes for this show...cause Cavanaugh looked like he had had a stroke!

Aceveda's blow-job incident came back to haunt him. "Suck it like a cell-bitch!" Again priceless lines. I'm so impressed that the writers hadn't forgotten that storyline that was never completed.

Awkward moment is Vic fathering a child outside marriage and his daughter wants to visit the new borne.

I love seeing Anthony Anderson making brief cameo's he was an all time favorite bad guy and some of his past dealings with Shane also return to haunt Shane.

A great season. A lousy sombre ending but Season 7 should be the best since it may be the last.

The problem with Shield is too few episodes. But it sure overcompensates everywhere else screaming Great Cast and Great Characters.

Ocean's Thirteen-The Review

Caught it on premiere night. And I must add that the sound at Junction Nu Metro was appaling to say the least. I has do much syke for this ..probably because of the cast.
All the same the movie was ok. It wasn't the greatest and I think it's cause majority of the jokes had been displayed in the trailer. Ocean's 11 so far remains the best of the three.

Good bits:
-Seeing 2 of my favorite actors share a screen..Brad and Al Pacino
-It was good seeing Andy Garcia and Pacino together since The Godfather
-It was also nice seeing the cast again..especially after Bernie Mac got a 2minute role in Ocean's 12.
-Ellen Berkin is great

I think what sells this movie is the cast and not the script or the plot.

Bad Bits:
-I missed Julia Roberts
-The plot was so obvious and a little weak
-Shame on you Al Pacino for taking that role
-Shame on you Oprah for a cheap cameo

All in all it was a good flick...you will laugh and enjoy yourself...but...preferably you had better rent this movie on DVD or wait for it on TV.Nothing to sms home about!

Family Guy

Arguably one of the funniest cartoons of our times. There is so much debate about Family Guy VS The Simpsons. Of course the Simpsons is funny...and is the longest running cartoon of our time...but Family Guy is a GEM! And i hearby state its better than Simpsons!

Word of advice:Borrow this and watch it and love it!

Besides really funny characters the most endearing quality of this show is its involvement with the real world. It spoofs reality...from George Bush...to Passion of the Christ...to Zinadine Zidane...to Osama...name it they have made fun of it. In fact this is the reason why most people don't warm up to the show because they miss majority of the jokes. Each portion is a running gag..a joke within a joke. When they make fun of Michael Douglas' enormous chin as they act out romancing the stone...only a true Tato would get that joke.

And their jokes are way below the belt...totally uncalled for...nasty...and the cursing is phenomenal!

Meg their only daughter is not openly hated and disregarded by the whole family...can you imagine the dad mistaking a monkey for his daughter? Or robbers refusing to rape her even when she presses them to.

then the hayve this styles of telling jokes:
1. They always do imaginary flashbacks taking a joke to another level
2.They at times can prolong a joke way way way longer than it should be told..making it funnier

My favorite characters are:
Peter Stewie

Peter the fat tub of lard...dumb tub of lard...he is just a breath of fresh air
Stewie the evil master mind genius that wants to kill his own mother...and his banters with the Dog are harsh and brutal!

Pirates of the Carribean-Review

Well obviously I caught this on Friday.
Same time as Bantutu...better luck next time..please you actually thought you could beat the TATO to watching it before.
So we waited and here it was. Bigger and grander than ever. As I had expected it a lot of fun and big explosions, spectacular visual effects..pure Bruckheimer/Verbinsky tag team. As in... whatever you were looking for ..it was there...they went all out..perhaps a little overboard!

Loved it Loved Loved it...however...a few disappointers were present. In fact at one point I even dozed off.( I am so embarrased and ashamed and so so so sorry...!)

1. It was too too too saturated in terms of storylines. They introduced to many things ...too many subplots that should have been dealt with from the very beginning-not introducing things now! What seemed or should have been an end to a trilogy became the beginning of something else! Calypto? 9pirates? What the... A few stunts they pulled that I did not like...Like Jack and his endless personalities...

2.In its supersaturation it became unseemingly too long

But its a definite must see...the characters are all back in their glory ...and each with their own story!

Ha Bantuts likes ati the Proposal amidst the fighting(Told you I'd sell you out) ... sentimental fool! I on the other hand still like that idea of being so heartbroken by love you rip out your heart so that you never hurt like that again.

Bruckheimer and Pirates of the Carribean

Ok I may not watch it today but definitely...records shall be broken. Yes I said the same for Spidey 3 and wasn't I right?

Pirates is a superior ovie in terms of storyline and Bruckheier delivers action they way it was intended for the big screen.

Reasons for the major success will be in:

1.If anyone knows how to churn box-office hits. I'm talking #1 hits. Talking major grosses... is my man Bruckheimer. Distribution and advertising....the works
2.This is the end of a trilogy of outstanding proportions...almost like Lord of the Rings and it deserves the respect it brings. And with that respect comes $$$$$$$$
3.The characters...we all want to see them again.

So y'all ignorant lazy ass Tato-wannabes...please get yourselves to the theatre and watch it!

5.Don't belive the hype...create the hype. Sometimes you have to see it to believe it. See it to criticise it. See it ...just so that you can say "yeah I saw it and it was crap!"

6.Experiment. Broaden your horizon. Explore new territories.
e.g

-try Oscar nominated movies. try romance. try mafia movies. try classics...etc
-Read a book watch the mini series or the movie...way before borrowing series there were mini series.

Peep this out...who can brag having watched all of these...at the end of the day being a Tato is also about BRAGGING RIGHTS! Being a tato is all about the amount of stuff you have watched.And realizing ...DAMN i've watched a whole lot!

Yes, Friday opening night I was so there...favorite seats...bladder empty...it was time that was done

Movie Buff my dear soulmate...I do expect a retraction in your statements. My predictions were spot on...but yes Pirates now has the huge task of beating this record in less than 3 weeks.
But as I said come then loyalties will have shifted.

Spiderman III

damn this photo is hot!

What I loved:

Please remember we are comparing it to the other 2. Undoubtedly this movie was superior
Graphic unrelenting violence. Oh that chase scene between Spidey and Harry...had me at hello.GADDAMN...nasty blows..did you see how Harry got slammed before he lost his memory.

Bad Spidey vs Harry ...ok...when he threw that bomb right back at Harry...that was awesome.

Spidey Vs Venom and Sandman...that was too much...that whole sequence had me panicky till the end.

The crane sequence...wow...

Spidey and his narcissistic self...he was funny.

The freaky next door neighbour that has a crush on Peter.

Great chemistry between all villains.

Computer effects were all over the place. Cash was spent. Time was taken. Especially with Sandman...Mummy Returns has nothing on that sequence! Honestly some of those effects were over the top. Spidey Vs Sandman in the subway.
The showed of skills and this were skills that were massive.

In the opening credits they tired 1 and 2 together..it felt like going back home. I like it when you tie in the past with the present making the movie more realistic and continuous.

Review:

In my opinion everything that had been lacking in the previous movies was here.

Many say that the story line was weak... I beg to differ this one made sense. We couldn't have Harry surviving and him being a future side-kick, nor could we forget about him so it made sense to kill him. Same for venom ..of course he jumped in and got killed. As lame as that may sound...the storyline on this was markedly improved. Great laughs from Jonah the editor and the 'French' speaking maitre 'd. The dumb blonde!

If there is a chick that bores me its Kirsten...oh I so hated that singing that I wasn't so sure if she was lip syncing.

But I like the fact that he did not propose that would kill that vibe..and since when did she know he was Spiderman? OH and Sandman having a sweat soppy story....NOOOOOT!!!!!

If only we saw more of venom.

The ending was actually a bit disappointing but truth of the matter I had not recovered from the intense action beforehand...I needed something to cool me off.

Remember this is an action flick..you should not expect more form it. It's not an epic classic...it's not a literary masterpiece. This is pure comic fantasy that involves a favorite super-hero of all time...and that is all you get. Good action, good time with Spidey. Hence on that note I think it delivered..more than delivered. It was bigger, grander and superior in every sense.

Great Action sequences that were ruthlessly violent. Brutal and Graphic just the way Tato loves them.

Similarities with Spiderman 1

-What was with him flying past the U.S.A flag? Cammon do we have to Americanise everything?
-The ending was a bit to similar...death again?

NB:
I have decided not to mention Pirates at all...y'all wait 3 weeks and we can do this again.
This is going to be a battle...I stated my Loyalties.

I love Spidey more than Jack Sparrow. I love Pirates more than Spiderman. So there! Not to mention anything Jerry Bruckheimer does it all the time...if only he produced spiderman.

Yes by tomorrow the Tato...will be at Nu Metro theatre...nice and early. The previews shall be watched...be it Die Hard, Fantastic Four and Tranformers...or Simpsons the Movie...that will come and go.

...once the credits start rolling with those spidery letters...A new line presentation yada yada yada...A Sam Raimi film etc etc, the tato will be in a state of orgasmic euphoria. He will be undettered by the fact that 2 did not have a proper villain and that 1 had wasted time on storyline.

This time around Spidey ooops wrong persona..tato...knows those villains are gonna kick ass.
This time around Tato see a complex complicated pentagon between his love(Gaddamn it get that tooth aligned) his former best pal turned villain, Sandman, Venom and best of all himself!!!!

The Battle Within!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen..may I hearby unleash my predictions.

1. It will be much better than 1 and 2..both in storyline and in effects.

2. It will probably have a killer ending...begging for a part 4.

3. I will be satisfied...though I am completely biased.

Deliciously Violent Movies

There is a difference between gore from horrors and sheer raw, graphic violence! The latter has nothing to do with scaring you, nothing to do with sending shivers down your spine but quite the opposite. ONE makes your heart beat faster the other makes your heart stop! Cold, clean and crisp VIOLENCE. Violence delivered naked, up close and personal that you gasp in shock! Especially when they writers spring one on you,thats the best violence. The type you do not expect to happen or expect to be shown! Wham Bam thank you Ma'am!

Now when they say violence on the movie screen has adverse effects perhaps this is what they are reffering to off late.

1. Shooter

I kept thinking about you Movie Buff. This is a good movie with some serious sniper action that will leave you astounded. Cold blooded killing...yes! yes! yes!

"I am the Senator of the United States" says the senator...to which he is silenced close range.

2. Apocalypto

Why no one spread the word on this movie I will never know. Some of those scenes were just wrong. Fighting with a jaguar!? A spear impaling you through and through...people being beheaded...talk about a little ejaculatory joy of violence.

3. 300

Nothing like choreographed violence with spurts of slow-motion!!!! OH YESSS!!!!

4. History of Violence

I think this is the first movie I've ever seen with such open violence. Damn! Up close and personal...this movie had nothing to hide...not to mention that sex scene with Viggo and Mario Bello was as real as real gets. What a ride..I'm not talking bout the sex but the movie...that too!

5. Children of Men.

It was a tad slow... a tad boring on the futuristic aspect...but they way Julian oore get shot. Note since she is a big star you don't expect her to die so soon. WHAM! The sound was spectacular as well and near the end some fighting and shooting scene leaves your mouth open and dry.

6. 24.

Season 5 episode 1: The death of David Palmer. I did not see that coming...let me rephrase...I still don't believe the killed Palmer like that. Barely 2 minutes into the season premier...direct shot to the neck. I couldn't belive my eyes. How? Why? Seriously are you allowed to kill a major character? In fact I was wondering where the hell they get off doing that!

Season 6 episode 4:Death of Curtis. Cold blooded..again a direct shot to the neck. BRUTAL! If you want to get rid of a character there are gentle ways of doin it than that. Look at Curtis above...look at that neck..wait for it....

HEROES

2005 had Desparate Housewives. 2006 had Gray's Anatomy. 2007 has Heroes.

At first it may look like an X-Men Rip off, but as the story unfolds you get lost in the characters. Simple ordinary people who are extraordinary. Evolution has led to a mutation in the human genome in a selective few who's phenotype expresses supernatural powers.

The journey is in watching them discover their powers. How the HEROES are all interelated as the story unfolds. Initially the goal was to save the cheerleader to save the world...but now it seems like the goal is to prevent Peter from exploding.

The beauty of this show is in its simplicity. Of course the super powers are a major attraction...I'd kill for Peter's powers or Sylar's! Wow what villain! Who's your favorite character? The show is totally Comic-Book...it appeals to the young tato in me.

Hiro definitely makes my day!

I hate to compare it with Lost...but the two have the same similarity of INFINITE POTENTIAL IN STORYLINE. How many powers have we seen so far: shape shifting, radiation, the artist that can paint the future, the mom that's a fire starter, precognition...

unanswered questions:

-Peter's mum does she have powers?
-Hiro's pal...I think he may have powers as well..yet undiscovered
-So whats the connection between the cheerleader and the end of the world?
-Is Peter the main character in this story?
-Hiro's dad?
-Is Peter the bomb that will destroy earth?

VERDICT:
Watch it. Watch it! Watch it!

Worst Movies Ever...some of them...

The tato prides himself in being a master of everything big screen and silver screen. The tato prides in the fact that from a preview or even a review he can tell what's worth it and what's not. He prides himself knowing that he will get disappointed when he watches this or that..and he knows when he will be elated...he knows when he is just passing time...he knows what he needs for every mood or occasion. The tato has prided himself in recommending movies and those he recommends to have always been satisfied.

However the tato remains unamused whenever he is wrong. And not that kind of wrong that he should have known better but that kind of wrong that is almost sinful. That kind of wrong that you lie there embarassed and broker and by your tato standards is totally sorry! The kind of wrong where all clues and hints mislead his super skills. When all his criteria is met and shattered from the credits!

The folowling will forever remain etched in my mind...and I'm ashamed for having watched them.Just to name a few!

1.Joshua Tree

Who funds these movies and why? Dolph Lungren and Kristian Alfonso a.k.a that chick from Days of our Lives called Hope.

2.Burn Hollywood Burn

Good Gawd! An all star cast like that... a DeNiro movie... I have never dozed in a movie like this not to mention I wanted to walk out!

This is the worst adaptation from a novel. The movie was a box office success. I have never figured out why!

Cammon, admit it at times you let the preview overwhelm you and take you for a ride. And why shouldn't it, that's what it's for. Previews sell the movie...and after these 3 previews I am sold. Previews try to convince you this is the best movie ever. Usually very brief and well edited...very stingy...very showy...just enough to get you to the theatre.
Yup these did it for me!

It looks gory, graphic, bloody, mythic, gothic, legendary...think Lord of the Ring meets Apocalypto meets Gladiator. The preview is gruesomely awesome!

Live Free or Die Hard

Now this is one action packed preview...think John Woo, think Bruckheimer....This Grandpa is back. Bruce has always been a favorite of mine though of late he has been in some disappointing movies. This franchise has been super and the titles and voice in the voice over have always touched the right nerve with the tato.

and now Live Hard or Die Hard....

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Now the first movie was a mediocre action flick...took too long establishing the storyline like we already didn't know the plot. The biggest mistake was wasting such a wonderful villain like MR. DOOM. Honestly he should have been saved for SPIDERMAN! But what it lacked in action it so compensated in humor. That flick was laugh out loud hilarious! And I'm excited to see the four return...and cannot wait.

It's been 10 years since I started following the box office. Ten years since I'd set the timer for "Showbiz TODAY" with Jim Moret and Lauren Sydney. Ten years since the Tato became fully fledged in movie trivia. Box office results used to be a criteria for me to watch a movie. It never is the best criteria but at the time it worked...Most of the box office hits I didn't like much. The likes of TITANIC, M.I.B, LOST WORLD, goodness Batman and Robin was crap!

Kevin Spacey, Russel Crowe, Guy Pierce, Kim Basinger and James Cromwell...they don't make movies like these no more. CLASSIC!!!! Obviously Basinger didn't deserve that oscar but it was a great movie.

Tato's Oscars 2007 Projections

Ok! Ok! I have been forced into blogging by my peers. The ‘tato has been busy (read broke!) but a ‘tato all the same. I have been catching up on Oscar movies, in my favorite couch. Needless to say tato is bila time or cash for big screen…Tsk! Tsk!(Aegeus 2007) How is that harambee going guys…or do I have to auction a date with ‘tato for the highest bidder???? Any takers out there???

This Sunday Oscar results are unleashed. Hmmm! As usual I’m caught in a dilemma between who I want to win and who should win…and who I think will win. Of course now that I am going to air my views out loud I bet I’m gonna lose big time…that’s the thing with critics you should just stick to critiquing and not betting so here goes my tato projections.

Best Picture

Babel,The Departed, Queen, Little Miss Sunshine, Letters from Iwo Jima.

I haven’t watched the Eastwood flicked but I liked the other four. But darn it Eastwood has won far too many times.

Sunshine was such a nice movie to sit back on the couch and watch-cute and funny! Babel are what long movies were made for…4 running storylines all intertwined…

Queen…was this movie about the Queen or Diana?

Departed…my movie event of the year…ALL STAR CAST-GREAT!....but with Oscar History Great never wins…remember how Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings 1+2 lost?

Adriana and Rink were both in Babel. I liked them there but I don’t think they were exceptional. But Oscars always see to favor minorities in this categories so don’t be surprised if they win. Especially Rinko who played a deaf child…think Piano that deaf mum!!! Out of all this Abigail and Jennifer stand out. Abigail was this cute little thing while Jennifer was a towering inferno-WOW! Watch her perform “Am not leaving without you!”

Babel: This is what real Oscar movies are made of. Think Piano, think Memoirs of a Geisha…think almost on the brink of boredom yet wait a minute am not bored! I’m seeing Babel being the major Oscar winner this year! It is a damn good movie...that’s what it is. Wonderful story! Wonderful plot… its just wonderful! As opposed to Departed that was great….there is something about wonderful that beats great!

Apocalypto: Is the best movie I have watched this year on big screen. I’ve never seen such violence on the screen since History of Violence (no pun intended) The fact that it is in subtitles makes it all the more authentic. Trust me this is a great journey of a movie must watch must watch. And since it’s been nominated for Best Make up and Sound may it win since it was snobbed. Directed by Mel Gibson

DreamGirls: Hmmm musical. Only thing I liked about it was seeing the likes of Danny Glover , Eddie Murphy share a screen together. No, feelings for Beyonce’s acting. Jennifer Hudson was phenomenal. Hey Jaleel White makes a cameo so much for his supposedly dead rumor. Watch at home…the songs ain’t all that anyway! For some reason I hated Jamie Foxx in this movie…note the character but the actor...something was a miss.

Children of Men: Nominated in Best Editing. I think it should win..there are some scenes there where you jump out of your seat yelping. That movie was put together very well. It’s different. But you have to see Julianne Moore getting shot by the rebels to believe what a gunshot scene should feel and sound like! And there is a guy who get whacked on the head with a car-battery…yes yes yes!!!!

The Prestige and Illusionist: Both about magicians and magic. Surprisingly, Edward Norton disappointed me for the first time in Illusionist or maybe I expected more…Both have very great endings, but Prestige stands out. Prestige is quite the plot twister leaving you with many unanswered questions-typical of a movie directed by the same director as Memento. Prestige is really something…Must watch! Illusionist is ….luke-warmly ok!

Stranger than Fiction

So the Tato was coerced into going to watch Stranger than fiction by some tato-less, tato-clueless chick. This was not the way to start my box-office year.

However, even in the said coercion I still didn't think the movie would be that bad. Preview looked good. And hey Queen Latiffah and Dustin Hoffman were some of the things to look forward to. I'm not much of a Will Ferrel fan but was also looking forward to seeing how good an actor he is as compared to being a comedian. Shock on the Tato and his peels!

Verdict: CRAP! not even the mushy kind of crap! But long, boring, tedious...and annoying. So much hope for the storyline to take a new twist... NADA! Shame on you Emma Thompson!!! Shame on you for when you bored me in that Anthony Hopkins film and shame on me for boring me here!

1.I have never taken Will Smith seriously as a serious actor. Even in Ali. I've always thought of him as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air which in entirety isn't such a bad thing.So when he started acting in Bad Boys and Independence Day...I still had this thing of "now what is he trying to do?"
I-Robot...Wild Wild West...Enemy of the State...M.I.B...nuh...esp M.I.B 2

But here he is full grown! Evolved...

2.The beauty of this movie is I actually felt like I was in the 80's...it had an 80's feel, I was watching an old 80's film. Made in the 80's...so kuods to the art director and cinematographer.

3.Its about the whole act of SURVIVAL...beating the odds against poverty when your senses tell you to give up and throw in the towel! His journey as he pursues happyness...which even he thinks is but a dream..this is some good movie. A definite must-watch-at-home movie. Survival to the core...some scenes were great:
-him losing his Bone Density machine to some hobo...and initially to some hippie
-him struggling to get to the Church in time to get a shelter before they close down..and his kid drops his action figure and is crying for it, beggin to go back for it...and Will tell him to "Shut up."
-When Will has to lend 5$ to his boss and that all he had in the pocket and he HAD to lend it out....

4. His real life kid is totally adorable in this movie...and it will be good to watch is movie career grown from this. Watch out for a lil jig he does.

5. A definite must watch. Does he deserve the Oscar for this when compared with the likes of Forest Whitaker and Dicaprio for Departed...nuh...but he definitely deserves the nomination!

24: Season 6, Episode 1-4

After a long day's work...or rather after being hustled/brow beaten and treated like a child in School..there was nothing more ecstatic than coming home to the latest 24..which none of you has watched except Patron Saint of Downloads.

Yes, my dear Couch Tato fans I have absolute BRAGGIN RIGHTS!

Considering am still high on episode 1...I will not say 24 is the cestest drama out there...but I will declare that it has the MOST SUSPENSE compared to all the shows out there. This show is too intense for its own good..and I LOVE IT LOVE IT! Not a second wasted!

Set 2years from season 5...stuff has started unfolding...I can't go on without revealing spoilers...but WAYNE PALMER is President. Be grateful that's the only spoiler I have unleashed...I have gathered my strength...and the adrenaline is now back to normal levels and now going in for episode 2. GOOD TIMES! GOOD TIMES!(Movie Buff 2005)

Movie event of the year! Why bore you with long tales of how great the movie was when you could easily summarize.

If you have not watched this moive I urge you to go running. Consumate fine actors...the level of supporting acting is on a superior level. Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen...and Mark Wahlberg are exceptional. Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson play villains with utmost perfection. Leonardo stunned me the most cause he is so mature in this movie. It was pure pleasure watching this ensemble team in action.

This movie is screaming Oscar Oscar Oscar! Hopefully Martin Scorcese gets his much awaited oscar.

The writing was spot on! ... so was the cursing!...so was the violence!

The suspense was spot on. You don't see that ending coming!

Jack Nicholson...yes yes yes! Stay away from comedies..this evil roles were made for you!

So as I do my last Couch Potato post of this year while celebrating the year I broke box office records by watching 53 movies at the big screen. Of which I repeated 4. This was a good year and Departed was the best way to end the Tato year!

Nativity Story

Was actually looking for a feel-good movie something that could set me into the christmas mood. This wasn't it. I didn't feel overwhelmed...or as the cliche would go I did not feel the spirit. Pun intended.

It is being called the Lord of the Rings of this year...and come last Friday I run to the theatre.Verdict???Disappointed Disappointed Disappointed. The baby-dinosaur was definitely cute...but I felt like I was watching a Disney movie. I felt like I was in Std 5 being taken on a nice kiddy fairy tale story. No! What a waste of fine actors like Jeremy IRons and Jon Malkovich. What a waste of hype!

Happy Feet.

Had gone expecting to be disappointed...and was so NOT! It's a cartoon so my expectations were down there until I heard that Prince song and I was toe-tapping like the Tagline says. "you don't have to be rich to rule my world...ain't no particular kind I'm more compatible with I just want your extra time and you're.....kiss."

The above scene was so so so cute with baby Gloria trying to poke into the shell so that Mambo could hatch.

Robin Williams was great as Ramon and Lovelace.These 5 penguins put a whole lot of soul into the movie.Mumble/Mambo was great

My only problem is I felt they rushed that ending ....but the songs were great. The jokes were cut-throat! Sharp and icy! Special effects grand. Yup that's my movie of the week so far.Great! Great! Great!

Funny Golden Oldies

I like doing flashback posts...and nothing is more worth it than reminiscing over good laughs! These movies if I recall well had me laughing in different styles. Talking of nostrils never quite recovering. Laughing from deep down and expressing it in a noise that resembles that of laughter. This was inspired by KM who we have been reminiscing with funny moments.

Rest in Peace Chris Farley but this movie will forever be one of my funniest!David Spade was totally out of this world here...great stuff!!!!Great scenes...with him spanking mr naughty. Chris singing "fat boy in a little coat..." Them singing rock in the car..and then change of scene they are crying singing sad love songs...

Look at that mad-funny tagline. "if at first you do not suceed, lower your standards!"

What else do yo expect when you team up Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Martin Short? do you remember their song? Funniest bit was Chase and Martin running out of water in a desert and they are dying of thirst...and Short is there pouring water all over his face!

I actually avoided reviewing Casino Royale...especially since Ichiena was supposed to be my date...now let's get the review started right.

Verdict: Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

so what is that supposed to mean?

For starters, I actually see why the chose to go the Daniel Craig Route. We expected them to replace Pierce and for him to compete with the likes of Sean Connery and Roger Moore...but in fact what they did was give us a whole new BOND.

And i dont think it's workin unlike Justin Timberlake's "I'm bringing sexy back-yeah!"

And this may have played to their advantage. It's hard having to replace a character...think Batman...from Keaton to Kilmer to Cage ...and now Bale. Even Smallville did the same for Superman. The secret nowadays looks like it involves..going back to the roots and beginning all over again. Cause this is what Casino Royale actually is James Bond-Episode 1. Hollywood has discovered this whole Episode 1 genre and using it to revive Bond. Worked on Star Wars as well.

Instead of suave and chique! Instead of classy, majestic, debonair-we now have a BRUT!
A cold mean Brut! Who to make things worse wastes our time falling in LOVE! Damn it-BOND doesn't do LOVE! Bond doesn't succumb to emotions! He doesn't have to he is BOND, James Bond to say the least! That whole sequence irritated the hell out of me...and for hi to be duped like that-is now pushing it! Bond is smart with lots of cheek! Oh no they didn't play him out like that!

Many may argue that perhaps this is what made him casual in his future flames..i refuse! They wasted to much time on that love story the same way Superman Returns did with Lois and Superman flyin around. Many may say this is the side of Bond we never knew...that this is the initial Bond that IAN FLEMING had in mind...and as BORAT would say NAAAAAAT!

Honestly, the movie started with such a BANG! His two killings in black and white that made him a 00 agent-EXCELLENT! That chase scene with that black guy was outstanding especially the aerial shots...I was damn well near clapping...however the whole story line went downhill. Too much time was wasted in the casino! Not even Judy Dench could help it not crumble down. Though I liked the interaction between Bond and in her room...was hoping to hear M stands for a prudish name like Margaret...The torture scene was fantastic and you can see the Cheek in Bond come out

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS!

Where were the gadgets? Where was the shameless advertising and merchandising like in "Tomorrow never dies?" Remeber how almost every ad on CNN was to do with Bond...from the watch, car rental, BMW... The cars? Where were they? The many many Bond Girls? Q? (yeah I know the original Q died and John Cleese came at the end?) But for the sake off continuity...damn it bring back Q and MONEY PENNY! Where was the killer Theme Song? I mean all BONDS had significant theme songs!

So as much as this was going back to the roots to re-invent BOND! I don't think you can reinvent a product 20 movies down the line! You cannot attempt to change BOND yet have his old traits ooze out...

I think Craig will do one more Bond before the franchise slowly tapers off! Perhaps it will grow..but they have taken BOND in a whole new direction. Which the old audience may not appreciate! It is doing very well in the box office...but the truth will be out come the second movie!

To me James Bond is not a BRUT or a THUG!

The movie is definitely worth a watch especially on big screen. It was satisfyingly long but there was room to make this movie more than it was. It left us wanting more! It had had great start...lousy end! Amidst glowing reviews...nah this wasn't the best BOND for me!

After a disappointing second season, the show has returned fresh as the morning dew! Honestly this season has had some good laughs..Gabrielle is back to her sassy, almost bitchy self. She's always the victor yet the loser at the same time. Her one-line exchanges with her house-maid/surrogate mother of her child. Her feuds with Ricardo as they each try to out-do each other in hurting one another...each other out for the other's neck. Susan as usual has managed to get herself involved with some Brit! Edie's tentacles are sharper than ever. The Scavo's have problems of their own as they deal with Tom's Ex.

New twists:
- Bree's new husband the Dentist(go Dentist) has some sordid dark past intertwined with Mike Delfino who conveniently has retrograde amnesia. Si what happened to his wife? Why did he run over Mike and remember he had a PRISON connection in season 2?
-Now Bree and Orsen are made for each other with their cleanliness idiosyncrancies. Did you see Bree shudder when she had her first orgasm, she rushed to the E.R complaining of shortness of breath and what she described as a mini-stroke! I swear this season is laugh out loud!
-A pedophile has just moved into Wysteria lane.
-Julie is catching some different strokes with the new bad boy-Edie's nephew.
-Edie has moved in on Mike...remember that "carnivore" reference in season 1.
-Orsen's mother, played by Dixie Carter, a great actress remember her
from Differen' Strokes and Ladies' Man?

Disappointments:
-Looks like the writers never had any plans of writing in a baby for the Solize's
-Bree's son...is too quiet...or have they run out of storylines for him yet
-The whole Orsen story seems a little re-wound with the whole season one story line...but maybe it has potential.Enough with the murder mysteries...His mother,played by Dixie Carter, a great actress remember her from Differen' Strokes and Ladies' Man?

What makes a great show I always say is the development of good characters...obviously this is well cast show...but the humor is icy! Some serious quotes worth writing down! Worth every second of celluloid!

F.r.i.e.n.d.s

Ten years and it only got better. We loved them. Laughed with them. It boasted with enough super-star guest appearances. I never missed any episode and I probably could recite a few off heart. One of the best sit-coms ever! The depth of each character within the first few episode is what captivated most people

Funny thing is Chandler was my favorite character-he reminds me too much off me, but over time I realized Ross was very underrated…and up to now it arguable if I liked Ross or Chandler more. Phoebe on the other hand wins that place hands down! Oh R.I.P Phoebe and your one-lady guitar songs!

Malcolm in the Middle:

Season one will be my all time best. Never have jokes been delivered in such a manner. Intelligent jokes that hit you a few seconds later!

4boys and whacky parents. Dysfunctional had a new meaning and spelling. Has the best writing for a comedy…spit out/choke out funny!

Of the extras I cherished:

Stevie: The poor medically and physically handicapped best friend- who’s disability was the punch line of any jokes. His parents were also a bag of laughs!

Craig the poor loser assistant that lived with a cat, and pined for LOIS-who could care less if he existed or dropped dead!

Grandma Ida: Gosh this woman was the devil incarnate!

Just Shoot Me:

Raw and Nasty. A publishing magazine…A rich father, a competitive daughter, a womanizing photographer, a cheeky smart-ass assistant, and an ex-super model turned slut! What a cast!

Golden Girls:

An all time classic. Its amazing how such a show survived, in fact some episodes would have just the four of them…and the jokes delivered were lethal.

This was an 80's show that was way ahead of its time!

Scrubs:

It’s rare to get a comedy that will captivate you in terms of on going story line and the jokes behind. I will admit Season 1 didn’t do much for me...perhaps because I was following it on a weekly basis. But luckily I got DVD’s for season 2-4…and Season 4 seems to be the best ever!

As usual there is the slapstick humor! The nasty one-liners! The cat-fights and bitch-fights! It’s a modern day Ally McBeal meets Just shoot me. Cheap humor with intelligent wit! You never go wrong with such a mix!

Each character is severely flawed, and when you mix them up you get one of the best shows out there! Officially, it has been put on my top ten comedies of all time!

Outstanding feature about the show is the depth at which we know the minor roles like: The Todd, The Janitor, The Lawyer Ted, The assistant nurse Lavern, The incompetent resident Doug, The nasty Ex-Wife-Jordan

There are comedies that come once in a life, this happens to be one of them. It's probably one of my best white comedies of all time. Each scene is laugh out loud and full of knife cutting remarks that a nanny that age shouldn't utter at all.

FUNNY AS HELL.SNORT GRUNT OUT LOUD HILARIOUS!

The annoying thing in this was seeing Pierce Brosnan in such a small role.

Some of the funniest moments were his/her boobs catching fire. Him at the employment agency with different routines. "BACK OFF !" as he hustled a hustler trying to mug him on the streets.

There is 24...there is HBO drama...and then there is LOST! Hook, line, sinker and boat-that's me!

Finally got the first 4 episodes and I swallowed them whole. What's so glorious about this is the infinte possibilities that the writers can have with the storyline and the characters! The fact each character is a story on there own-past and present-with with the extra mile of intertwining their lives in the past.

The whole "Others" aspect. The whole Island aspect. Enough intrigue to keep you going. There is so much we don't know yet and we're at the mercy of the writers! Dharma Initiative. Supernatural creatures! Electromagnetic forces!

Watch season 3

-New Characters...I totally like Ben the leader of the "others"

-It may look like it's lost its steam, but Lost still has its original appeal.

-So what's with the rumor that Ecko was killed..apparently get a D.U.I charge and your killed in the script ask Ana Lucia...

Casino Royale-Preview

Fom last year I really wanted to start an anti Daniel Craig campaign-cammon, how the hell do you get rid of PIERCE BROSNAN!!!!!

So last week there I am in the theatre...and I see this preview. WOW! In black and white almost sensual and totally thrilling...the voice quite familiar drawing me closer to the movie in question...there you see Dame Judy Dench and without a doubt realise this is a BOND preview. For a split second...I'm excited...my mind has totally turned against me and I'm screaming "MUST WATCH THIS MUST WATCH THIS!!!!!"

and then....BANG! HE appears! Deflation couldn't be a better word to describe...not even that shooting withing that famous 007 circle did anything for me. He will do to this franchise what George Clooney did for Batman. This is the beginning of the end.

Worst thing about this review...is I am still going to watch the movie. Talk about double standards...but Daniel Craig cannot pull James Bond OFF! Heck bring back Timothy Dalton-the worst BOND ever before this...Timothy must be somewhere smiling that his ill-rep is no longer viable!

So what has the Tato been upto in the last one month?

Six Feet Under

Finally finished this gripping drama...they only make drama this good only on HBO. Everyone is completely dysfunctional and neurotic and the morbid humor is satisfying. It was sad to see Nate Fisher die! But I really loved in season 4 when David picked up some stranger on the road and he turned to be a complete psycho and came close to burning David alive....WOW! That show deserved an Emmy right there

Sopranos

Cleared season 5 and now I am in season 6. Only on HBO...It's won enough Emmy's and you only need to watch it to see why.

Pure classic Drama on silver screen...one of the best ever!

Commander in Chief

All I can say it ain't no West Wing but its worth some couch tato time...only one season...but not a bad one.

The Closer

Ha, now this show is actually weak if you ask me? It's no CSI which will forever be the yardstick for all detective shows...but it has a compelling cast...and why not! Am watching it like I have shares in the show...already almost through with season 2

Smallville

Wow what a season premiere for season 6! This show will always amaze me. It was such a simple prog..very plain ..but if you were to compare season 1 to where we have come. DAMN-this show has grown and evolved! This season premiere was hotter than the entire SUPERMAN RETUNS movie.

Now in season 2. Dr. House has the nastiest, most sarcastic one-liners that I ever did see. WOW! I'm really enjoying Sela Ward who played Teddy in Sisters. Love her to the max. Hey do you guys remember Dr Chase used to be in Neighbours as one of the Kennedy Brothers?

Dexter

Hey, this guy is fresh out of Six Feet Under. A forensic expert (enough with this forensic shows damn it-Monk,CSI, Psyche,Closer.....) but anyway his acting really jazzes me. Not to mention he is a Psycho masquerading as a serial killer himself-as in he gets tips from those he is investigating. From early childhood his dad had recognised he has a deep seated problem and helped him channel his murderous rage agaisnt criminals that justice can't take care of.

Entourage

Season 3 came and went! This is such a rare gem that takes a look at celebrity lives. Ari remains my favorite character...he's a ruthless, manipulative, cunniving agent with lots of cheek and one-liners!
Great show...it just started on KTN and would advise all of you to catch it!

Grey's Anatomy

This show is now on season 3. Its season premier was nice with flashbacks that help solidify the characters we already love. To me the Nazi, George and the Asian chick are my favorite. Looks like the makings of a great season.

Not many understand toilet humor...perhaps I am the only who loves cheap jokes and cheap jolllies. Well this is just a short post on Toilet humor comedies as I work on another post of my best 'clean' comedy movies! As much as Chicks are allowed to have their Chick Flicks then guys should be alowed to have their Toilet Humor Jokes!!!!

Comedy before used to be very moderate with definite limits but the following movies broke the mould and pushed the limits to the edge.

There's Something About Mary

This is where I'd say that it all started. Back in 1998...wow this had us rolling in laughter and shocked and dismayed that Oh Hell No they did not go there!

That picture of Mary with her hair rising to the occasion is the pure comedy right there! WOW.
As for Ben Stiller's piece gettin stuck in the zipper twice...I think he even zipped over one of his testicles...damn...at his prom date's house...and him getting whisked away in ambulance with background people yelling "we have a bleeder" and "he was masturbating" Pause and finish laughing!

American Pie

Wow tempo just kept getting better and better and so was American Pie 2.

That dad is just a killer. Stiffler managed to steal the show in this series by American Pie two he was the star of the show. I loved the guy who slept with Stiffler's mum as well ...woe unto him when they pranked him with a does of ex-lax!

Road Trip

This was one crazy trip with cheap jokes and the toilet humor was plenty!
From Three fingered rectally induced ejaculations to that guy having relations with the big boned black chick. Oh this was great!

Scary Movie

One of the best comedies and spoofs of all time. Even two had some good laughs especially the Exorcist scene!

Van Wilder

There is this part where they send a basket of baked goodies to their enemies in another fraternity...loaded with semen from their bulldog...high point of nasty humor!

So what do these movies have in common:

1:They are great...we're talking abut longer than 2 hours...leaving you feeling like you travelled to another place and time. The tato was leftthoroughly quenched and as the credits rolled...I was left clappin inside

2.The have been nominated for more than one Oscar award or the other.

3.They need to be watched with the lights off...bladder empty and food at an arm's length. If you have company-company better know ain't nothin like pausing!

4. I really like when you have an accumulation of hollywood ego's at there best working with each other. It surpasses being about the star studded cast but the chemistry that each brings with their clout!

Hooray for 24 for finally winning an Emmy for Best Drama and Best Actor for Keiffer Sutherland it was about GADDAMN time! 24 will forever be my best DRAMA! And now we await the 6th season and a movie as well! GO! GO! GO!

PRISON BREAK

So right now I have caught up on Prison Break Season 2 episode 1...and I'll say it has the makings of a good season. Same intense magic is there and the fast pace that it ended on last season rides on.

His brilliance and super scheming is yet to be unravelled as it becomes evident that he had planned more than just the Prison Break!

And of course some of my favorite characters have returned

I first encountered him in the Bernie Mac Show playing a sadistic catholic priest with an Italian accent...this guy will soon go places

Capt Bellick...has everything in control but for this one time has no idea how he has been duped. He doesn't like being made and ass out off! He is not amused! If you thought Tommy Lee Jones was ruthless hunting down his fugitive you haven't seen nothing yet!

This T-Bag and his accent just make me laugh. With one hand already sliced in a cooler, we have no idea what is up his sleeve!

I miss him terrorising his lil bitches in jail!

These two play villains we love to hate!

2.Psych

Now the patron saint loves this comedy. I think it deserves a 5. We have a highly observant dude who can pick up clues very easily but cons people into believing he is a Psychic. Sure there are some laughs but i find the plot lines lacking. The crime solving tactics are a tad weak...then again this is not C.S.I...but the jokes are not that strong!

For some reason i keep comparing this Black&White best-friends duo to Richard Crenna and James Earl Jones in the much funnier Pros and Cons

However they have some interesting goofs at the end of each show that will have you rolling in stitches.

I am sure you remember Dule Hill who was the in West Wing!

So as the season's begin let's see what lies ahead!

Dead Man's Chest ****

We knew it...we expected it..and it delivered. Yes ye of little patience and endurance it was a long movie...but great movies are usually very long. This is was an adventure/journey why would you want to take short cuts...it had to be viewed in its entirety. I can't wait to watch it again.

Verdict: Watch it twice! and even worse get Curse of the Black Pearl and relive it! Great! Great! Great!

1. It had an all star-cast.
2. It was very funny.
3. Serious outstanding action.
4. Great Special effects...oh that Krakon rocked!

Remember this is a summer movie and that is what summer movies are made off. And with the movies nowadays it sets up the sequel very well with the return of Captain Barbosa right at the end... You want a rollercoster ride in a summer movie..you wanna see money was spent and poured to make this movie...you wanna leave the theatre saying "...yes. yes it is well with my soul!"

I usually love Johnny Depp in all his performances cause he is one of the most versatile role-actors. He never plays similar characters like Denzel. And him as the cheeky Jack Sparrow-is the ultimate. You should see him acting as Chief who the villages are about to turn into a meal! Yup see picture below.

But we also have Bill Nighy as Davy Jones and damn he plays this role well. I discovered him in Love Actually and he is actually a good actor!

I loved the whole concept of your heart being broken so much you remove your heart and put it in a chest so that you could actually live on...boo hoo

This was a SUPERB MOVIE!

A classic Gem. Bless you video libraries that had shos at the end of movies..for were we to wait for the local tv stations we may not have evr discovered this one! Many a celebrities debuted in this successful show! It set standards so high for Blacks that only Fresh Prince possibly could ever come close!

A DIFFERENT WORLD

This was a spin off from Cosby show. It wasn't too bad introduced us to the likes of Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison..heck even the likes of Jada Pinkett,Marisa Tomei, SinBad....

Many black stars had their stepping stone in this show as they did in Cosby

IN LIVING COLOR

Where do I begin where do I end? I love spoofs I love Spoofs. and they had plenty... plus numerous characters like Homey the Clown with "Homey don't play that!"

This was one definitely one of the best SITCOMS ever!

LIVING SINGLE

"..coz we are living single...oh in a 90's kinda world i'm glad ive got my girls! Keep ur head up! (what?) Keep ur head up(that's right!)...."

This was a classy show! It was almost a Black equivalent to Friends! And boy oh boy there were nasty lines from this show!

Oh this show was filthy and fowl and we loved it. WZUP wazzzup! Remember that radio show! Oh and my personal Fav was Shenene's "Oh Goooodness! One stroke of Shenene and Mama'll stroke you out!"

FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR

A personal favorite of mine-funny in all levels! I will always love this show that had steroetypicla blonde humor/opulence humor/education humor/british humor/ghetto humor..what more could you ask plus a stellar cast of guest appearances...

I watched Superman Returns twice and can't believe he has a son! Wow, now that that spoiler is out of the way lets talk reviews.

It's a good movie...but not the Summer Movie I have been waiting for! Boy the sound effects are really SUPER! Lord bless Surround. Special effects were awesome.

Brandon Routh plays superman really well and I think in time he will acquire that polite modest arrogance/confidence of being superman...instead of looking like he is pouting. Dean Cain and Tom Welling had/have that confidence...and Brandon will too. I believe he was well cast for this gigantic role and will mould with it come the sequel.

Don't get me started on Lois Lane played by Kate Bosworth!

Kevin Spacey was great (though I kept seeing him as Kevin Spacey and not Lex Luthor) and his side-kick Kitty delivered some good laughs!

He always plays villains extremely well, remember him in Se7en?

Unfortunately for me I was looking for action and not a big romantic storyline. Boy, they wasted reel-time with 'Superman in hospital' sequence/Superman and Lois flying around the world...I needed more action than I did a romance!

You all know the story, Superman had returned to krypton and has been missing from earth for 5 years. Sure, the same triangles of Lois/Clark were there...Lois/Superman...Jonathan Kent was dead...Lois has moved on and had a son who ends up being superman's kid...But its kinda funny knowing that Superman done done the nasty with Lois! hahahahaha

As good a flick as this was, I feel XMen3 delivered more! and I'm sad to say i preferred XMEN

I took my nephews to go watch it yesterday. And after returning the last one home yesterday he changed into his superman pyjamas and climbed into his spiderman sheets. Conflict of interests i'd say..but from there a post was born!

Between Superman and Spiderman who is your hero? Who's is more cooler or tougher? Tho both have killer theme music...

Cause obviously Superman is uber powerful.Superman could kick Spidey's ass even if his webs were made of Kryptonite. Superman is one bad mutha....

1.Has NATURAL powers. His strength and abilities are innate.No spider bite!
2.Invincible except when it comes to that lil green rock
3.That S sign on his costume and the cape totally ROCK!
4.HE CAN FLY!!!!!! no superhero has that on him..wacha that Batman and his fake leaps..he can FLY!

Ever wonder how his cape dangles under his suit? where his specs go when he changes...and don't even get me started on the boots?

So, that out of the way. Why on earth does SPIDERMAN rule more. Cause as much as I like Superman I think I have Spidey fetish.

When it comes to BOXoffice wise. Spiderman will always thrush Superman. SPIDEY rocks! There is something that was missing in Superman Returns that you will always find in Spiderman movies. Have you seen the preview of Spiderman 3..watch it and you will see the X-factor I'm talking about that makes Spidey Rock! And hence I'm always biased towards Spidey!

Spiderman has more villains, more action sequences and that MaryJ Spiderman love triangle in an entangled web isn't too overplayed like the Lois/Clark one.

Not to mention they too go all the way out with special effects.

1.Remember the closing sequence in Spiderman1...as he leaped up and about and landed on the American Flag? Some serious C-G choreography...which don't compare to Superman's flying!

It sure did deliver in the sense that it was better than I expected and not to mention better than the entire x3 trilogy. I still don't like Halle Berry in that role as Storm as I did before in X1 maybe cause I think a Whole Oscar Award winner should be doing better E.G Jamie Foxx in Stealth.

But there were so many powers in store and many mutants. Loved the fact that they killed the Prof and Cyclops...and Jean Gray in the end. Wow if you love me you will save me...and Wolverine sticks it to her. Yumm!

And I actually think they have set it up for a sequel. Cammon Maitha think about it!

Apparently Brian Singer dumped X-3 to go work with Superman and I must admit, I have seen the new preview and am loving it loving it.

It is a summer movie and sad to say impressed me more than Da Vinci and M.I.3

Scary Movie 4

Ok yeah I know it wasn't a summer movie but it opened here finally. I laughed out Loud and Snorted out Loud as well. Cammon this to me is the ultimate spoof franchise...and having watched majority of what was being spoofed I enjoyed it like 100 more times.
Great Laughs...though it was sad Charlie Sheen and Leslie Nielsen the King and Prince of Spoofs-didn't have big roles this time.

The funny thing is, when I watched Village some time back I could see it getting spoofed and was disappointed when it didn't get spoofed in Scary Movie3..so when that setting came up in this flick I was floored!

Great Great!

Poseidon

Wow this movie has been seriously trashed. But I think it's a good movie all the same. There was suspense and enough supporting characters from TV shows you'll think your watching Alias cum Six Feet Under cum Thief.

Like Firewall it's a simple movie that makes good viewing. I call them K.B.C movies I'll do a post on them later on..but in short it's a movie that gets you intrigued from start to finish, you get totally engrossed even at the simplest of storylines- it catches you by surprise and makes good viewing.

I mean it was way better than the Titanic.

Omen 666

I think it was more scary to watch Julia "Please don't look up there is an anvil falling" Stiles. (Yes you also noticed the flat face) Yup, how could she be playing a mum wasn't she a teenager the other day??

Anyway, now this remake had some really good scary one-second moments. Watch in a theatre with great surround and it will scare the shaite out of you for some 5 separate split seconds. But in whole it was just a so-so movie.

R.V

Robin Williams is back. If you enjoy cheap famliy comedy...this here is your movie. Nasty as Nasty gets. I totally recommend this one...it's been a while since Robin Williams delivered such a comedy. My all time fav of his is Mrs. Doubtfire-I can't get enough of that movie!
R.V a definite must see! Watch out for his daughter and her killer lines!

Now you see that R.V dangling in that mountain...that was a killer scene in the movie. Wah Wah Wah...somebody hold me back! Go watch it and if you do not laugh I will refund your money in dollars or euros...

I'm still waiting for Pirates of the Carribean and Superman Returns bu until then let's see what else is in store.

Of Seasons and Finales

By definition a couch potato is one who watches a whole lot of TV…and specifically not movies but TV shows. And this season that just passed the Tato has been at it again-of course with a lil help from the Patron Saint of TV and everything downloads.

So here is a quick list of what i've been watching this year. Not in any particular order... a few not mentioned include already previewed Rome and Entourage. Yet to clear Big Love and Elizabeth probably will feature in a future post HBO 2

Shield Season 5

If there was a show that came back stronger than ever! This was it! I felt sad that Glen Close wasn’t there this season but enter Forrest Whitaker. Damn, this guy had so much bile and was out to get Vic Mackey. It was personal. Guest appearances from Anthony Anderson were a welcome surprise…This is his best role yet, Let alone the way he is a black movie/TV ho.

Past seasons came to haunt the squad team beginning with Terry’s killing in episode 1. Lem’s killing at the end was totally uncalled for and totally unexpected-WOW! That’s what TV is made for. Shane! Shane! Shane!

Killer scenes between Forrest Whitaker and Vic Mackey…especially when Vic slept with his estranged wife and bragged how her pu$$y tasted like sweet sweet butter…and there was Whitaker definitely defeated explaining to Aceveda et al… how Vic is out to get him and even slept with his wife…Remember when he thought he had busted the Team and resigned in his room threw his comp adn lampshade-PURE RAW DRAMA!

Season Finale: GREAT!

Bad Comment: Too few shows!

24 Season 5

It took place between 7pm and 7pm… (“The day of the California presidential primary”…I always add that line from season 1)

Cut to the chase, cut the crap this show started with a BANG! President Palmer getting killed within the first ten minutes had my mouth open in shock. Straight shot to the neck! There wasn’t even a doubt that he’d survive like typical suspense pulling tricks…he was dead dead dead!

And so the action begun and didn’t let go. This time they pulled emotional surprises by killing off Palmer, Almeida and his wife not to mention Edgar. Four main characters-gone just like that.

Season Finale: The episode had ended on a too nice note everything going just as planned...except season 4 came back and grabbed Jack by the balls at the last 2 minutes of the finale!!!….setting up a serious Suspense twist to everything.

Bad Comment: None at all...even that pathetic President was awesome. However we still don’t know more about the bad guys-i.e. Paul McCrane who was on hands free...what was up with him?

Desperate Housewives Season 2

Last years hot new show started off slow…and remained slow. It was entertaining no doubt…but the essence of that dramedy was only re-captured in the last 3 episodes where I may have forgiven them for a slow season. From Bree’s son sleeping with her boyfriends for the ultimate revenge as he had promised in season 1, Edie burning Susan’s house and finding out which black brother really killed that girl sometime back…and Mrs. Huber’s sister framing Zack’s Dad. And the introduction of a psycho Dentist (now that’s a colleague I admire). Carlos having an affair with the housekeeper!

Season Finale: Cute in a way! I love flashbacks and all... hopefully they have set up for a killer season 3. They also pulled an alias and tried to bring back all other characters that had been killed off or left the show!

Bad Comment: The seemed to have lost the magic, but got it back. Is Nicollete Sheridan a recurring role cause I was pissed not to see her in the season finale (of course there was the bee sting incident LOL did u see her all bloated) but woulda liked to see her in the flashback sequences!

Grey’s Anatomy Season 2

I grew up on medical drama’s the like’s of E.R which will remain my fav medical drama of al time. But this show is actually well set in the surgical dept…and each character has substance. My fav is the Nazi a.k.a. Dr Bailey…it was even funnier seeing her lactating bearing in mind she is as hardcore as it gets. Dr Christina is also quite amusing-totally competitive and unemotional

Great Show. The highlight of the season was the explosive show where a patient had like a live bomb in his chest...which ended up exploding. WOW. I also liked the addition of Dr Allison Shepherd into the cast. She blended in so well, plus she oozes knowledge and charisma. It is very obvious that this is a well cast show.

Season Finale: that story line of Burke getting shot and Izzy faking a patient's medical vitals was good!

Bad Comment: That Love triangle with Shephard and Grey needs to end.

Smallville Season V

Now this show had started off very weak. I think they did not know what to do besides Kryptonite induced villains...but this soon changed. Each season got better, peaking at season 4. I’m actually happy it’s done so well and I will be a loyal fan all the way.

Season highlight: I think episode 100 was my best. When Jonathan gets killed after Clarke had sacrificed to save Lana and ended up losing his DAD! WOW. The soundtrack was also great for this show “you’re beautiful” by I think James Blunt

Lex eventually or finally turning evil that’s what everyone has been waiting for.

Season Finale: Clark locked up in that thingamajig-cliff hanger or what?

Bad Comment: Lionel knowing about Clark and Lex and Lana dating and the mom being Senator…not falling for that!

LOST Season 2

MMMMM! This show has me hooked! It really is bloody good…and the beauty of it lies in there being so many storylines running at the same time you might as well be watching 6 soaps at a time. Love all whole supernatural theories going on. And what’s with the others? Damn it why where the fake beards? What’s with the Dharma Initiative? I mean this show doesn’t answer any questions it just keeps bringing up more…When did Locke get into a wheelchair? (i thought it would have been the kidney transplant) Whats up with that 108 minute machine...and them numbers...

Highlight: Ecko and that black spirit. Michael shooting Ana Lucia and Libby! Oh yes!

Season Finale: A bit too confusing…I was actually left high and dry...which isn’t entirely a bad thing. But don’t like the “huh?” feeling I got.

Bad Comment: I have a feeling we are not going to get any answers pretty soon!

Alias Season 5

It had the makings of a mediocre prog that didn’t have any promise but pleasurably proved me wrong. Damn the whole Rimbaldi storyline survived 5 seasons! Great Cast! SD6/Prophet 5/Covenant/ CIA words like Intel, covert, and their code names like Phoneix and Riverfox…all that is gone

Highlight: One thing alias has always had, is killer season finales. For season 4 and 2 when she wakes up 3 years later that was great. It was funny how they brought Vaughn back after we thought he was dead

Season finale: The whole season was a finale…as they brought back old favorites like Espinosa, Sarc, Will Tippen and the Black chick who was cloned in first season…oh and her mum, Irena Direvko. Sad to see it end

Bad Comment: Killing the dad and Sloane and her mum and her sister-cammon! And what was with the new cast of 3???? That action heroine didn’t look the part pregnant!

Prison Break Season 2

Now this is one of those silent good ones. Creeps up on you and before you know it-hook, line and sinker and the boat too… The season was great and was it me but didn’t it really have a fast pace this time round.

Loved that silly arrogant kid who got what was coming to him…my favorite line from him “I’m being tossed up like a lil bitch!”

Season Finale: I think the second last episode was the greatest of the whole series…when they managed to finally break through.

Bad Comment: Maybe too few episodes…that Doc bores the living daylights out of me…they need to spice her up like the OZ doc.

Malcolm in the Middle VII

"you're not the boss of me now...life is unfair"

I have watched every single episode of this series. Sure, some flavor got lost along the way but it remained one of my favorite comedies of all time. With recurring characters like disabled Stevie and loser Craig this show is a classic. I'm still yet to decide who was my fav character of all time in this show..between Lois, Malcolm and Reese.

This time we saw more of the evil grandma who kills me everytime!!!!

Sad to see the show come to an end. Poor Lois has been nominated every year for an Emmy since it started maybe she will win one this year.

Commander in Chief Season 1

It was nice and different…though I hear the show has been cancelled. It was a good series...I got hooked so it must have been a good one...though my memory is kinda skimpy on this one! The only problem with this one is simply WEST WING...nothing will ever come close!

Boondocks.

I was pleasantly surprised by this cartoon. Riley Freeman so freaking rocks. A black 8 yr old kid with spunk and attitude and speaks his ghetto mind. Damn that kid rocks! Great show, cheap laughs! There is this episode where the graps dates a 'ho' and when the gramps gets beat down by a bling guy-RILEY let loose!

Everybody hates Chris

Too much hype about the show but it’s been improving with each show. The mum and her killer “imma slap u…” lines have me in stitches.

Thief

It was more like a mini-series. Actually a surprise success. Storyline picked up fast infact it reminded me of Prison break in style. Very few epsiodes though. Andre Braugher was great, remember him from Homicide? Storylines regarding a heist of a huge loot will always sell. with a very nasty ending. Must watch!

Action flicks of our time!

We were filled with psyche that we too could be as tough as nails. Yeah right. They entertained! They made us laugh! They gave us stories for break-time/lunch-time/home-time heck they even made it to our blogs decades later!

Cammon we all remember that signature flying kickthat will forever remain a classic. Wax off, Wax in. Mr Miyagi Sir. The sequel wasn't that bad either but them drums that you beat by twisting them kinda spooked me. ha.
I used to give out Karate lessons in Primo aremd with the knowledge i had from this film. I'd challenge guys to attack and would defend successfully..well it didn't work on my cousin who beat the crap out of me and had me pinned down with a twisted arm borderline tears!

Eric Roberts at his best...ubaya they made sequels out ofthis that weren't as good as this original.

Black Movies? Classics?

Somewhere in my teens, we became obsessed with identifying ourselves us black! It wasn't enough we were born black…we had to say it and prove it! So ghetto attitudes emerged mid-form 1. Especially with the likes of Snoop hitting our walkmans “...mirror mirror on the wall who is the top dawn of them all? There was a rabble dabble 5 minutes had lasted…you are you conceited bastard!”

So our dressing style changed. The way we spoke changed, know wha I mean nigga foo u best be representing up in this hees-ouse! And the movies we borrowed changed as well. All of a sudden if you was (see the kind of language I be using?) black you must have watched specific movies. God we were full of crap!

So this is a post on black movies over the years past through present that have tried to influence society. Of course my take on Black movies is that they are whack cum slightly below average. Solely because they all have the same message! Same old grew up disadvantaged in the projects…grew up to do know good…selling or doing drugs…puh-lease give us a new story! Without drive-by’s. Without coke. Without guns.

So I did watch these black movies…no regrets but they sure aren’t classics. Don’t you agree most were moderate!? Some had great moments…and were worth wathing…but think are these on your Christmas Present DVD list???

Color Purple

Most definitely one of Steven Spielberg’s best works. Black cast that had powerful performances. Since when did you see a black actress getting an Oscar nomination in their first big screen appearance like Whoopi and Oprah did.

Gripping yes. At the time I guess the storyline hadn’t been overplayed.
Sure it put John Singleton on the map…but funny thing is this movie is considerd a classic. I’m sure nothing that raw had also aired so it was a milestone. But is this a movie you want in your movie collection. Maybe?

Soul Food

Stellar Cast if there was ever gonna be a black movie to set standards this shoulda been the movie. But it didn’t quite deliver. Babyface on the soundtrack. It managed to get a spin off into a TV series. It was a nice flick but not the greatest…but on a league of its own in Black Movies.

The Best Man

I actually like this movie..well-cast. They should make more of these. But still not a classic!
