STAR WARS

Now I am a self-proclaimed movie guru…traced back to when in Uni I was consulted on what movies to borrow or catch at the theatre. Any trivia related to movies was always thrown at me and I rarely disappointed.

But in all that acclaim I have always harbored a deep dark secret…I had never watched ANY of the Star Wars movies. To make it worse I was not ashamed…and nor was I in a hurry. I made prequel jokes! I ridiculed all those crazy nuts that queued for tickets especially those in 1997 who made Lucas rich again by watching previously released movies.

So, inspired by 'Apprentice' Season IV- where there was this task where they were to promote the final episode. Randall a Harvard Graduate and Rhodes Scholar (Winner Apprentice IV) seemed so in tune with the whole genre…he was all “this is the most important episode where good turns evil…where Anakin turns into Darth Vader…”

And I was like Dayum…LAZIMA! So I went to my DVD guy in the street (No one can replace you Maitha!) and got me a 6 in 1 DVD.

VERDICT: I so totally get it! Move over Lord of the Rings: Star wars is the Ultimate movie Experience!!!

Now the problem with a Couch Tato is he'll prolly like everything he watches...but this is not the case.

1. It set standards so high in movie making even watching a 76 production doesn’t even hurt. It was what T2 and Matrix was in its day…and in fact Lucas’s Industrial Lights Company is what has brought Visual effects to life from T2, MUMMY…all pay homage to Lucas. Lucas invented special effects I tell you. That light saber (please make the sound effect with me!) The whole Composite effect originated not only from Star Wars but FOR Star Wars! From Aliens…Abyss…Jurassic Park...Perfect Storm they went calling to Lucas!

2. The storyline had me at hello! Luke, Yoda(my favorite) Darth, Hans, Leia, Obi Wan, Anakin, Quigon, Padme, Count Dooku, Windu….and the Emperor-the Ultimate Sith! Darth Sidious!
This is a fairy tale with mythic proportions-a tale that shall stand the test of time.
Characters with such personalities that shall forever live with you…not to forget R2D2 and C3PO.

The politics behind the senate and the entire empire...

The Force!

The Dark Side!

3. Did I tell you how I love Yoda…oh and his perfect English? Oh and the fight between him and Count Dooku….

4.Oh and Yoda's Quotes:

"Powerful you have become, the dark side I sense in you."

"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will."

"Always two there are, no more, no less: a master and an apprentice."

"When 900 years you reach, look as good, you will not."

5. Anakin Skywalker turning into Darth Vader-WOW WOW! With the fight scene with his Mentor Obi Wan Kanobi leaving him limbless and burned... If you are on the 'bilas' Train get u some Star Wars!

6. Who can ever forget Darth Vader “Luke. I am your Father!

Star Wars to me has shown me a side to movies and story telling I had totally ignored. It’s a work of genius. Classic tale of Good and Evil. Fear being a resulting factor in one’s destiny towards the dark side!

If you haven’t watched Star Wars, I BEG you to. I totally understand why this is the most successful movie franchise…Why each Movie opened at number one and majority dominated the box office for that year including the re-released version.!

And my recommendation start halfway like the story was intended to be told!

Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: Empire Strikes Back, Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones and finally Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

May the Force be with you!

If anyone needs someone to promote their movies, they should just turn to you. And I have to confess that even though I proclaim to be Movie Buff, I have never gotten into the whole "Star Wars" thing. I have watched ONE......

However, reading what you wrote, just makes me want to go watch it. And yes, your writing is captivating!

the movies sound interesting the way you describe them ... where were you when i was falling asleep? me i was bored, i just ended up fast fowarding then giving up.

but i can see that this will turn into a star wars convention, so let me go some place i won't be threatened with bodily harm (i kumbuka there was some time you weren't amused that i spoke out against your beloved lord of the rings trilogy, lol)

"When 900 years you reach, look as good, you will not" ---> this was a cool qoute though :-D

lol @ 6-in-1 DVD.

Very true about Industrial Light & Magic. Time and again, they have set the standard in special effects, and I expect they'll keep at it for a while.

I beg to differ on the outcome of the "Lord of the Rings" vs. "Star Wars" match-up, though, chiefly because of my dislike for Episodes I and II of Star Wars. I'll wind up blogging on your comments if I keep going, so none of my anti-Ep. I & II spiel.

Lakini for the record, The Empire Strikes Back is easily one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life.

Welcome to the club!
My best Yoda line has to be: Do or do not, there is no try!

You know that “Luke I am your father” is the probably the most misquoted movie line of all time. What Lord Vader actually says in the movie is, “No. I am your father!”

Interesting story (ok this is where I highlight my geekiness).

The guy who played Vader in the original movies was called David Prowse. In fact he acted and even spoke all the lines but George Lucas had all ready decided that James Earl Jones was to be the voice of Darth Vader. They dubbed James Earl Jones voice over Prowse’s voice in post production. Apparently Prowse was mad when he turned up at the launch and discovered that his voice was not on the movie hehe.

Apparently George Lucas did not trust the crew of Star Wars so in the place of the “I am your father” line he made David Prowse say, “Luke, Obi-Wan killed your father”. The twist in the story, that Vader is actually Luke’s dad was only known to four people. George Lucas, Hamill (the guy who played Luke Skywalker), Kershner (the guy who directed it) and of course James Earl Jones. The rest of the cast and crew only found out when they matched the movie in the cinema! Imagine their shock!

Great post!

@Aco: soon is still not soon enough-giveint to the dark dide

@spicebear: Haiya i'm surprised i havent blocked ur url with such nasty comments on LOTR and now Star Wars...wewe NYAS?!

@Universally speakin: LOTR vs STAR WARS..noow that is as nasty as nasty gets..both great movies. But when you have Peter JAckson praising Star Wars like Whoa...u should see how them directors are fighting for sapce in the special features DVD to praise LUCAS u actually beg to differ

@LUCAS: tuendelee

1.Ha i see u watched thespecial features DVD in the box set and have ur imdb trivia on...
yeah they hid that ending to hype it

2.Yeah that line has been spoofed so hard from nutty prof to date movie
-did u know Anakin(the actor) begged to be in the final darth vader suit?
-C3PO and r2d2 were in all 6 movies with the original actors
-Yoda: i never felt liek he was a puppet in fact prefered him in 5 and 6 as compared to CGI in 2. With the great Frank Oz voicing him tho initially i was Fuzzy Bear?? is that you?

3.Did u know lucas put evrythin he had for episode 2...xo that he could have an independent movie and upto date he is the most successful inde movie maker
